OPAquatics Substrate Sphere Dirt Ball
Thank you for purchasing our Dirt Ball!
How to start and grow your Dirt Ball
Before planting, submerge the ball in water for at least 4 hours. After soaking, create holes in the ball with closed pinsettes. Then, plant into these holes using either pinsettes or fingers.
It is best to use plants which have already been converted to their emersed form, or plants which thrive in wet soil. We particularly recommend these species:
Bacopa Caroliniana
Bacopa Monnieri
Lysimachia Nummularia
Alternanthera Reineckii
Ludwigia Repens
Rotala Rotundifolia
Juncus Repens
Hydrocotyle Verticillata
Hydrocotyle Leucocephala
Many other species will grow well emersed, we recommend these mainly because they are suitable for beginners because of their versatility and hardiness.
As mentioned above, we plant into 2-2,5 cm deep holes which we prepared with
our closed pinsettes. We recommend planting one stem at a time.
Then we recommend putting the freshly planted Dirt Ball into a closed
container with where high humidity can be maintained. This will prevent the
newly planted plants from drying out or dying.
When the plants grow too tall, we can trim them and replant the trimmings the
same way as the original ones.
