Product Information
The N5/N6 Converter is a leading solution provider of IP-based video transmission. It features the NDI High Bandwidth+NDI|HX Full Functional Codec (Version 2023-2). The device interface includes a Type-C Extension Interface, Touch ScreenLeft/Page up, LCD Screen, Touch ScreenRight/Page down, Touch ScreenOK, 1GbE Port with PoE, HDMI IN (SDI IN for N5), HDMI OUT (SDI OUT for N5), LINE IN/OUT, Power Port, and Tally. The device indicators include a Tally/LCD Screen with a green light indicating PVW and a red light indicating.

Device Interface:
The interface diagram of the N6 is as follows:
Device Indicators:
The Tally/LCD Screen is used to indicate the status of the current video in
encoding mode. A green light indicates PVW and a red light indicates PGM.
Application Scenario:
The N6 is used as an example in the following application scenarios. In the
encoding mode, ensure that the video signal output by the camera is connected
to the HDMI IN/SDI IN interface. In the decoding mode, ensure that the video
signal cable is connected to the HDMI/SDI output port.
Display and Touch Buttons:
The device features a display and touch buttons for easy navigation and
control.
Discover Devices:
Check IP Address:
On the LCD, you can easily view the IP address of the device. The third page
of the LCD shows the current network status of the device, including the real-
time network uplink and downlink rates, and DHCP indicating the dynamic IP
address obtained by the device.
Install Kiloview Multiview NDI Player for Free:
To install the Kiloview Multiview software for free, visit the website
https://www.kiloview.com/en/ndi/multiview
and click on the “Get it Now”
button to install the software step by step. Kiloview Multiview is a popular
and highly praised software for NDI video discovery, management, and multi-
view.
Login to the Device Web Page:
To access the web page of the N5/N6 device, open a web browser and enter the
device’s IP address. The default username and password are both “admin”. It is
recommended to change the password immediately after the first login for
information security. Additionally, for the first login or firmware upgrade,
you need to agree to the End User License Agreement (EULA).
Before using this product, it is recommended that you read the guide carefully. To ensure your safety and avoid physical or electrical damage to the device, please strictly follow the instructions in this guide to install and use it under the guidance of professionals. Incorrect electrical connections or physical installation may cause permanent damage to the device and even threaten personal safety.

The picture above is a schematic diagram of the interface of the N6. The
difference between the N5 and N6 devices is only in the SDI/HDMI interface.

Note: When N5/N6 is in encoding mode, after receiving the tally signal from NDI, the LCD will show that the current video is in PGM or PVW state (red or green).
Application Scenario
Note
- The following example diagrams all take N6 as an example, and N5 is the SDI interface input.
- The encoding mode and decoding mode of the same device cannot be used at the same time.
- In encoder mode, make sure that the video signal output by the camera is connected to the HDMI IN/SDI IN interface.
- In decoder mode, make sure that the video signal cable is connected to the HDMI/SDI output port.

Display and touch buttons
N5/N6 provides a color LCD and touch buttons on the front panel. On the
display, you can conveniently view the device status, obtain configuration
parameters, and perform shortcut operations such as working mode switching and
IP address configuration. The LCD is also a large tally status display.
Display modules can be switched by clicking the touch button clicking means
“OK”, you can enter the current display module, view detailed information,
modify basic configuration parameters, or modify the working mode of N5/N6,
etc. For more detailed operation steps, please refer to the user manual.
Take N6 as an example:
Discover Devices
Check IP address
On the LCD, you can easily view the IP address of the device. The content of
the third page of the LCD is the current network status of the device. The up
and down arrows indicate the real-time network uplink and downlink rates, and
DHCP: indicates the dynamic IP address obtained by the device.
Install Kiloview Multiview NDI player for free
- Step 1: Start the Kiloview Multiview software to configure the parameters
- Step 2: Find the device in the discovery list and enter the device web page through a browser
Introduction
- N5/N6 naming rules:N5/N6-
. Serial number refers to the numbers on the device label. - Two ways of accessing the device web page:
- Method 1: Drag the device directly in the discovery list to the left window, wait, and click the icon ⓔ that appears in the upper right to access the Web page directly.
- Method 2: Open the web browser, and enter: http://deviceIPaddress/(Kindly note the device IP address is one of N6 in the discovery list).
Login to the device’s Web page
Enter the web page of the N5/N6 and both the username and the password are
“admin” by default
Note
- To ensure information security, it is recommended to change your password immediately after your first login.
- For the first login or upgrading the firmware, you need to agree the “End User License Agreement (EULA)”. Please read carefully.
Work with your device
Note: N5/N6 CANNOT be an encoder and a decoder simultaneously now, but you can switch freely.
Encoding Mode
The device is under encoding mode by default. There are icons for switching
between encoding mode and decoding mode on the left of the N5/N6 Web page.
When the device works under “Decoder” mode, click the icon “Encoder” to switch
back to encoding mode.
The video preview is in “Image” mode by default and will be refreshed every 3 seconds. If your computer’s CPU performance is well, you can click the button to switch to “Video” mode, which will improve the smoothness of the preview.
Decoding Mode
There are icons for switching between encoding mode and decoding mode on the
left of the N5/N6 web page. Click the icon “Decoder” to switch back to
decoding mode.
When the N5/N6 is in decoding mode, the NDI sources in the network will be displayed at the bottom of the decoder web page automatically. Find the NDI source to be decoded, and click the icon on the right of it to decode and output.
Firmware Upgrading
Download Firmware
Kiloview will keep updating the new firmware of N5/N6. Please visit HTTPS://www.kiloview.com/ensupport/download/Select “NDI” list > “N5” or “N6” to find the latest firmware to download.
Upgrade Device Firmware
Login to the web page of N5 or N6, and click “Settings”>”Firmware Upgrade” to
check if there is any latest firmware available to download. If yes, select
the downloaded firmware and click “Firmware Upgrade”.
After uploading the firmware successfully, it needs to reboot the device. After clicking “ok”, the device will restart, please be patient.
Note
- Google Chrome or Edge with Windows OS is recommended for upgrading.
- Please do not power off during the upgrade process, otherwise, the device will not work.
- Generally, it will take 3-5 minutes to upgrade the device. If it is still not completed after 5 minutes, please try refreshing the web page. If still cannot access it normally, please try to contact technical support for assistance.
Upgrade device firmware in recovery mode
If you cannot enter the N5/N6 web page with the method described in 9.2, you
can use the Recovery mode to upgrade the firmware. The specific steps are as
follows:
- Step 1: Prepare a USB flash drive, and copy the firmware file downloaded from the Kiloview website to the USB flash drive.
- Step 2: Insert the USB flash drive into the N5/N6, after the device is turned on (about 2s), wait for the Kiloview logo to appear on the screen, long press and hold for more than 10s until the device enters recovery mode.
- Step 3: Select “Recover from USB Device” (install firmware from U disk) by clicking the touch button. After the selection is complete, press to start the upgrade.
- Step 4: During the upgrading, it will prompt with “Updating! Please keep the power on.” (Please do not power off)
- Step 5: When the N5/N6 screen displays “Firmware updated successfully”, the N5/N6 has completed the firmware upgrade. At this time, any operation of the scroll wheel will help you return to “RECOVERY”, please select “Reboot” to restart the device.
Note
- “Press and hold the scroll wheel for more than 10 seconds to enter recovery mode” is only available when the device is starting.
- Upgrade firmware is available only in the root folder.
- If the firmware cannot be found, the pop-up window will show “No firmware found”, please operate the scroll wheel to return to the selection screen.
- During the firmware upgrade, any operation is invalid.
- If the firmware upgrade fails, it will prompt “Failed to update the firmware”, please contact technical support for help.
Restore factory settings
If the device cannot work normally after modifying the parameters or forgets
the IP configuration and can’t search and find the device, please restore
factory settings.
Two methods for restoring factory settings:
- If you can log in to a web page, then via the web page, click “Settings>System settings>Restore factory settings”.
- When the device cannot log in to the web management page normally, the device can be restored to the default settings by operating the touch button on the front of the N5/N6.
Note : After restoring the factory setting, the below parameters will be turned to the default value:
- The login username and password will be “admin”.
- Your device will be restored to obtain a DHCP-assigned IP address by default and the failover address 192.168.1.168 will be bound to the device.
- All encoding/decoding parameters of video and audio will be restored to default value.
Others
To prolong the device’s life, please unplug the power and keep it properly if
you do not use it for a long time.
