GRADE GUIDE
Grades are a visual segmentation based on the quantity and variation of the
natural characteristics of the wood such as knots, mineral streaks, splits or
checks and color variation. Lauzon Collection floors have zero openings on the
wood’s surface and any naturally open knot or streak is filled during
production.
North American Oak
Select
and Better l Very uniform looking surface with subtle color variations and
wood natural characteristics, such as sound knots of less than 1/8″ (3 mm),
open knots of less than 1/32″ (1 mm), mineral streaks and checks.
Exclusive l Natural looking surface with moderate color
variations and wood natural characteristics, such as sound and open knots, as
well as knots filled with wood putty, mineral streaks, surface checks and
splits.
Character l Natural looking surface with prominent color
variations and abundant natural wood characteristics, such as sound knots of
all sizes, open knots of less than 5/64″ (2 mm) and knots filled with putty,
mineral streaks, surface checks, splits and a few others.
