Product Information

The SL F is a both-sided mount light with a maximum brightness of 250m and a light intensity of 12500 cd. It has a light output of1300 lumens and a light pattern of TA 23. The light is waterproof up to 2m and complies with IP protection class 68. However, it is not suitable for use as a diving lamp or underwater.

Safety Instructions

  • Avoid looking directly into the light emitted by the light or shining the light into your own eyes or the eyes of another person.
  • If the light accidentally shines into your eyes, close your eyes and move your head out of the light beam.
  • Do not use any strongly focusing optical device to look at the light beam.
  • In cases where the light is used in a public or commercial setting, users should be provided with training concerning the safety measures for laser light.
  • This device may be used by children 8 years of age or older, persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities, as well as persons with no previous experience in handling such devices, if they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Carry a spare light with you at all times, as the product can potentially fail unexpectedly at any time.
  • Defects: Light source must be replaced in general if the light source (or one of the LEDs) is defective.
  • Heat generation: The housing of SL may heat up; so make sure that you always keep the light at a safe distance to any combustible or flammable materials. However, quiescent operation (without cooling the light housing via airflow or the like) is possible at any time and will not damage the product.
  • Water resistance: All SL components are waterproof and can of course be used under extremely severe conditions. The lamp complies with IP protection class 68 but is NOT a diving lamp and is NOT suitable for use under water.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Cleaning: Do not use a strong water jet or sharp cleaning agents to clean the lamp.
  2. Mounting:
  3. Remove one of the existing Bosch holder arms and the two screws.
  4. Mount the supplied SL holder arm instead of the original Bosch holder using the original Bosch holder screws. (Max. torque: 1 Nm)
  5. Classic mount Installation (Part No.: 2288)
  6. Wired Switch:
    • If the switch does not light up, the lamp is either off or the daytime running mode is activated.
    • If the switch lights up blue, the high beam function is activated.
  7. Operation:
    • To turn on the lamp, press the lamp button once.
    • Brightness Sensor Mode: The brightness sensor is activated and automatically switches between daytime running mode and low beam.
    • Programming:
    • Press and hold the lamp button to enter programming mode.
    • Release the button to select different options:
    • Press once: Daytime running mode (3 seconds/16 seconds). Factory setting: approximately 3 seconds.
    • Press twice: Sensor calibration. Calibration can only be done outdoors or in front of reflective surfaces.
    • Press three times: Low beam: 8W (factory setting)
    • Press four times: Low beam: 16W
    • Press five times: Manual mode
  8. Troubleshooting :
    • Issue: The cable ends in the lamp head are connected in reverse polarity.
    • Solution: Connect the cable ends correctly.
    • Issue: The light input is not enabled in the software.
    • Solution: Enable the light input in the software.

Montage

SL-F-E-Bike-Lights-Front-light- \(1\)

  1.  First, remove one of the existing Bosch holder arms and the two screws. Install the supplied holder arm of the SL instead of the original Bosch holder. To do this, use of the original Bosch holder screws. (Max. torque: 1 Nm) Perform these steps on the other side as well.
    Now screw on the SL to the two brackets on the Bosch display. To do this, use to the supplied holder screws and a T15 Star drive key.

  2. The orientation of the mount must be selected according to the stem width. Tighten the mount screws firmly in order to attach the mount. Now screw on the SL to the two brackets on the stem. To do this, use to the supplied holder screws and a T15 Star drive key.

Screw the SL lamphead to the holder with two TX15 screws. Then attach the appropriate socket for the fork crown with two other TX15 screws. Now you can with the help of the included M6 allen screw fasten the unit to the fork crown.

Wire remote

As shown in the picture down below, the wire remote should be mounted right next to the handle. Then attach the screw with the enclosed hex key size 1.5.

The remote doesn‘t light

  • The lamp is switched off or daytime running light is activated.

The remote lights green

  •  Low beam is activated.

The remote lights blue

  •  High beam is activated.

Operation

Turn on:

  1. Activate the light at the display.
  2. Turn it on by pushing the button of the wire remote or the lamphead.

Light settings:
The brightness sensor is activated, it automatically switches between daytime running light and low beam.

Explanation

Factory setting: about 3 sec.| The sensor controlled switch- over from low beam to daytime running light occurs as required in either 3 or 16 seconds.
Lights up 2x| Sensor calibration Only in the assembled state! Improper calibration may greatly affect the functionality of the light!
Calibrate only outdoors. No artificial light or close to reflective objects!| Saves the measured bright- ness value as a switching point from daytime running lights to low beam. The successful sensor calibration is confirmed by a short illumination of the daytime running light.
Lights up 3x| Low beam: 8W (Factory setting)| The low beam lights with 8W (Factory setting)

Lights up 5x| Manual mode| By pushing the wire remote you can change between daytime running light and low beam. In the dark it‘s possible to activate high beam.

Troubleshooting

Error: Cause: Fix

  • The light does not turn on and does not light up
    • The cable ends in the light head have been connected with reverse polarity.
    • The light cable is not connected to the drive.
    •  The light input is not activated in the software.
    • Remove the end cap of the light head and clamp the cable ends according to the marking on the gasket.
    • Connect the light cable.
    • Have the light input activated at the dealer.

Notice of restricted use:
The headlight only can be mounted on bicycles with pedal assistance with DC power supply if they come with their own control unit (battery charge indicator) and an automatic Motor cut-off to avoid a deep discharge of the battery.

Defects:
Light source must be replaced in general if the light source (or one of the LEDs) is defective. Replacement or repair only at Lupine.
