Product Usage Instructions

Remove Original Rear Shocks

  1. Raise and support the vehicle using a hydraulic jack or a vehicle lift.
  2. Support the axle using jack stands or axle hoists.
  3. Remove the wheels and tires for easier access to the shock mounting hardware.
  4. Apply penetrating oil to the top two rear shock mounting bolts.
  5. Remove the top two rear shock mounting bolts using a 16 MM Socket/Wrench and Socket Wrench Extension. Retain this hardware for installation.
  6. Remove the lower shock mounting hardware using an 18 MM Socket/Wrench and an 18 MM Open-End Wrench. Retain this hardware for installation.
  7. Remove the original shock from the vehicle.

Install Rear Reservoir Shocks

  1. Place the new shock into position and fasten the top two rear shock mounting bolts using a 16 MM Socket/Wrench and Socket Wrench Extension. Torque to 37 ft lbs.
  2. Position the lower end of the shock to align with the lower shock mount.
  3. Attach the shock to the lower shock mount using the original hardware. Tighten using an 18 MM Socket/Wrench and an 18 MM Open-End Wrench. Torque to 56 ft lbs.

Post-Installation Notes: After completing the installation and driving for up to 50 miles, it is important to check and ensure that all hardware is properly torqued to factory specifications.
Refer to the factory service manual or this instruction for the torque specifications.

  • 16 MM OPEN-END WRENCH
  • 18 MM SOCKET/WRENCH
  • 18 MM OPEN-END WRENCH
  • 9/16″ SOCKET/WRENCH TORQUE WRENCH
  • SOCKET WRENCH EXTENSION POWER DRILL
  • 11/32″ DRILL BIT
  • FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVER JACK/JACK STANDS

Safety Warning

  • Aftermarket suspension systems or components may cause your vehicle to handle differently than it would with factory components. Please use caution to prevent loss of control or vehicle rollover during quick sharp turns and other sudden maneuvers.
  • Thoroughly inspect vehicle suspension and components before and after every off-road use. Raptor Series Off-Road recommends the use of your Factory Service Manual for the disassembly and assembly of the factory and related components. Tighten all bolts and hardware to factory torque specifications unless otherwise specified in this instruction.

Post Installation Notes:

  • Upon completion of installation and within 50 miles of driving, it is necessary to check and ensure all hardware is properly torqued to factory specifications as noted in the factory service manual or as specified in this instruction.

Remove Original Rear Shocks

  • Begin by raising and supporting the vehicle using a hydraulic jack or a vehicle lift. Support the axle using jack stands or axle hoists.
  • Remove the wheels and tires for easier access to the shock mounting hardware.
  • Apply penetrating oil to the top two rear shock mounting bolts to ensure you don’t break the bolts during removal.
  • Remove these bolts using a 16 MM Socket/Wrench and Socket Wrench Extension. Retain this hardware to be used for installation.
  • Remove the lower shock mounting hardware using an 18 MM Socket/Wrench and an 18 MM Open-End Wrench. Retain this hardware to be used for installation.
  • Once this hardware is removed you may remove the original shock from the vehicle.

Install Rear Reservoir Shocks

  • Place the shock into position and fasten the top two rear shock mounting bolts using a 16 MM Socket/Wrench and Socket Wrench Extension. Factory torque specification is 37 ft-lbs (2a).
  • Position the lower end of the shock to where it lines up with the lower shock mount. Attach the shock to the lower shock mount using the original hardware (2b).
  • Tighten using an 18MM Socket/Wrench and 18 MM Open-End Wrench. Factory torque specification is 56 ft-lbs.
