PORTABAND PRO DWM120 Deluxe Saw
Product Information
The Portaband Pro is a jig designed to securely hold and enhance the functionality of the DeWalt Saw Model DWM120. It is manufactured by Van Sant Distributing, Inc. The Portaband Pro comes with several accessories, including a 3/32 Hex Key, two aluminum clamp caps, a vertical table (optional), and a clamp accessory (optional).
Product Usage Instructions
- Unplug the saw before starting any installation or removal process.
- Using a 9/16 wrench, remove the four 3/8 bolts from the front handle bracket (2A) and head lock (2B).
- Unhook the retention chain and raise the head of the Portaband Pro jig (3A). Disconnect the ball joint that connects the gas shock to the top of the jig (3B). Raise the head of the jig so it is standing vertical.
- Using the included 3/32 hex key and an 11/32 wrench, remove the yellow trigger arm and hardware from under the top of the jig. Save them for reinstallation in step 11.
- Using a 9/16 wrench, slightly loosen the two bolts that retain the rear adjuster plate, allowing it to slide side to side.
- Back off each hand knob assembly approximately 1 inch and install the included aluminum caps on the steel swivel feet.
- Feed the cord through the hole in the back of the top arm and slide the saw into the jig. The body of the saw should fit closely into the cutout in the top arm of the jig.
- Install the front handle bracket and hardware finger tight (8A). Tighten the head lock bracket and nuts with a 9/16 wrench (8B). Finally, lightly tighten each of the adjustable knobs (8C).
- Pivot the base of the jig up to meet the bandsaw. Check blade alignment within the slot in the base (9A). Using a 3/4 wrench, slightly loosen the three bolts at the base of the jig so that it can be adjusted for blade alignment (9B).
- Use a 3-4 tall square to check blade alignment throughout the travel of the saw base (9C). The adjustable knobs can be used to fine-tune blade alignment throughout head travel. Retighten the three 3/4 head bolts shown in figure 9B.
- Using a 9/16 wrench, tighten the two bolts holding both the front handle bracket (10A) and rear adjuster plate (10B).
- Reinstall the yellow trigger arm using the included 3/32 hex key and an 11/32 wrench.
- Reconnect the gas shock to the pivot ball on the top arm. The saw is now ready to be plugged in and perform test cuts.
Removing and Reinstalling the Saw in Your Portaband Pro:
When removing your DeWalt saw from the jig, be careful not to loosen the
3/8 bolts that hold the rear alignment plate. Only remove the front handle
bracket, head lock, and trigger arm, and loosen the fine adjustment knobs just
enough to release the saw. Reinstalling the saw after initial setup should
require very few alignment adjustments.
Angle Cuts:
Angle cuts up to 60 degrees can be made at the end of a piece of material.
Loosen the clamping handle and adjust the left fence to the desired angle. A
small angle finder can be helpful in setting up angle cuts between those
indicated in the base.
