Product Information

The product is a set of fender flares manufactured by Bushwacker. The fender flares are designed to enhance the appearance of the vehicle and provide protection to the vehicle’s fenders. The flares are made of durable materials and come with all the necessary hardware for installation. The product is compatible with various models of vehicles, and fitment information can be found on the Bushwacker website.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Fit: Before installation, verify the fit of the flares to the vehicle. Some filing, sanding, or cutting may be necessary to ensure a proper fit.
  2. Performance: If using larger tires, be aware that it may increase the area required to turn the vehicle. Certain tire/rim combinations may require lowering bump stops and/or installing steering stops to prevent tire from contacting the flare.
  3. Exhaust System: Modifications may be necessary to maintain a minimum 4-inch clearance between the flares and exhaust pipes. It is important to ensure that exhaust gases do not vent directly onto the flares.
  4. Metal Protection: Before installing the flares, treat all exposed fasteners and bare metal with rust-resistant paint. After completing the flare attachments, spray the inner fender wells with undercoating.
  5. Decals: The flares may interfere with existing decals on the vehicle. If desired, remove decals prior to installing the flares.
  6. Care & Cleaning: The Bushwacker fender flares are built to last. Any detergent used to wash the vehicle is sufficient to clean the flare. Avoid using harsh abrasive detergents.
  7. Tools for Easy Installation: The hardware kit includes various components for installation. Refer to the included component list for details.
  8. Edge Trim Installation (if required): If the flares do not already have edge trim installed, follow the provided instructions for applying the edge trim to the top edge of the flare.
  9. Rear Flare Installation Procedures (Passenger’s Side):
  10. Remove the factory fastener from the rear of the wheel well and thoroughly clean the vehicle sheet metal and inner flange.
  11. Hold the flare to the vehicle and mark five flare hole locations with a grease pencil.
  12. Wrap a foam tab around the wheel well sheet metal, centered over each of the upper four marks. Place a mylar tab at the mark made on the lower front of the wheel well.
  13. Install a clip over each of the four tabs placed over the upper four marks. Install a supplied S clip over the mylar tab installed at the lower front of the rear wheel well.
  14. While holding the flare to the vehicle, start supplied screws through the four topmost mounting holes in the flare and into the clips installed in the previous step.

Note: It is important to read and follow all instructions provided in the user manual for proper installation and usage of the fender flares.

STEP 1 – PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

Bushwacker® only approves installing the flares according to these written instructions with the hardware provided.
WARNING: Failure to install according to these instructions will invalidate the warranty. This includes, but is not limited to using alternative installation methods, hardware, or materials. DO NOT USE: Loctite, SuperGlue, or similar products on the hardware or the flares.

  • Fit: Verify the fit of the flares to vehicle. (Some filing, sanding, or cutting may be necessary to ensure proper fit).

  • Painting: (Optional) if paint is desired it must be done prior to installing flares on vehicle. Clean outer surface with a good grade degreaser. DO NOT USE LACQUER THINNER OR  ENAMEL REDUCER AS A DEGREASER. Wipe outer surface thoroughly with a tack rag prior to paint. Application of plastic adhesion promoter for ABS plastic as per your paint system manufacturer’s recommendations is required. Paint flares using a high quality enamel, or polyurethane automotive paint. If painting edge trim (not recommended), use a flex additive.

  • Performance: Using larger Tires may increase the area required to turn the vehicle. Some Tire/Rim combinations may require lowering bump stops and or installing steering stops to prevent tire from contacting flare.
Exhaust System: Modifications may be necessary to maintain a minimum 4” clearance between flares and exhaust pipes. (Exhaust gases should not vent directly onto flares)

  • Metal Protection: All exposed fasteners and bare metal should be treated with rust resistant paint BEFORE installing flares. Spray inner fender wells with undercoating AFTER flare attachments have been completed.

  • Decals: Flares may interfere with existing decals on vehicle. If you wish, remove decals prior to installation of flares.

  • Care & Cleaning: Bushwacker fender flares are built to last; any detergent you use to wash your vehicle is sufficient to clean the flare. Do not use any harsh abrasive detergents.
