Installation

  1. Turn off power to the VGC083A.
  2. Connect the large end of the GP355 adaptor to the VGC083A IG connector labeled as shown below.INFICON-VGC083A-Cable-Adaptor-FIG-4
  3. Connect the small end of the GP355 adaptor to your existing GP ion gauge cable as shown below.
  4. Connect the BNC connector of your existing GP cable to the VGC083A connector labeled “COL” as shown below.
  5. Turn on the power to the VGC083A.
  6. It is very important in this step to access the SETUP UNIT Menu of the VGC083A and set “DEFAULTS”. This is recommended only one time at the initial set-up and it enables the controller to realize it’s operating a small ion gauge and will set the defaults for the small ion gauge accordingly. In this case, the same default parameters used for the INFICON BAG055 Mini Ion Gauge will be set for the GP355 Micro ion gauge as well.
  7. The sensitivity value of the 355 GP Micro-Ion vacuum gauge is known to be 20 Torr. As such, in the “ION GAUGE” menu of the VGC083A Controller program the “SENSITIVITY” value of 20. If you have a custom version of the GP355 ion gauge with a sensitivity value other than 20 Torr, then program the actual known value of your ion gauge sensitivity.
  8. Program the other parameters per guidelines given in the VGC083A Operating Manual
