LOCATION OF CONTROLS

Kitchenperfected-E2020-750W-2-Slice-Toaster-FIG-1

Toasting Slots
Insert one slice of bread per toasting slot. Do not try to insert more than one slice per slot as this could damage the appliance. The high lift eject function makes it easy to remove your toast.

Carriage Lever
Once the bread slices are loaded into the slots, use the carriage lever to lower the slices into the toaster and activate the heating element.

Cancel button
Pressing the cancel button will cause the toast to eject mid-way through a toasting cycle.

Variable Browning Control
This toaster contains seven browning control settings. This controls the length of time that the bread remains exposed to the heating element.

Slide-out crumb tray
This allows users to remove crumbs from the toaster more effectively without the need to make a mess.

Power cord
Suitable for use with any British Standard 220-240v~50Hz mains supply.

OPERATION

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. STAND the toaster on a FLAT, STABLE surface, allowing enough room around the toaster for air circulation.
  2. PLUG the power cord into a suitable 220-240v~50Hz mains supply.
  3. ENSURE that the carriage lever is FULLY RAISED and set the variable browning control to a MID POSITION (3).

TOASTING

Kitchenperfected-E2020-750W-2-Slice-Toaster-FIG-2

  1. PLACE 1 or 2 slices of bread into the toasting slots.Kitchenperfected-E2020-750W-2-Slice-Toaster-FIG-3
  2. PUSH the carriage lever DOWNWARDS until it CLICKS and LOCKS into place. This will automatically switch the heating element ‘ON’ and begin toasting.
  3. Toasting wil continue for a period of time set by the browning control. We recommend using a mid setting to begin with and then use TRIAL and ERROR to find the OPTIMUM settings based on PERSONAL PREFERENCE.
  4. Once toasting has completed, the carriage lever will automatically release and the toasted bread will ‘POP’ out of the toasting slots. The heating element will automatically switch ‘off’ at this stage.

Note: Electronic control means that the carriage lever will not click and lock into place to begin toasting if the power cord is not plugged into a suitable 220-240v~50Hz mains supply. Cancel Button: Should you wish to abort the toasting cycle at any stage, simply press the cancel button. This will cause the carriage lever to automatically release and heating element to switch off. Should you wish to continue toasting, simply press the carriage lever back down until it clicks and locks into place. Be aware that pressing the carriage lever back down to continue toasting will start the toasting cycle from the beginning so either turn the browning control down or monitor the toasting regularly otherwise bread may burn.

DO NOT
Do not try to insert more than one slice per slot as this could damage the appliance.

SUGGESTIONS FOR BETTER TOASTING

  • Two Slices toasted together must be more or less of a similar size and thickness, to be toasted equally evenly.
  • Do not toast buttered bread or packaged food.
  • All breads do not toast alike. Adjustments to the browning control will need to be made for different brands and varieties of breads, and also for how fresh or otherwise the bread is. Bread that is several days old may need to be toasted at lower “browning” levels.
  • Because personal tastes vary, recommending precise browning control settings are difficult. A little experimentation with settings will eventually give the best setting to suit. Furthermore, it should be remembered that breads have different moisture contents, necessitating different browning control settings for toasting. Raise the loading handle at any time to check the toasted “color” of the bread, and adjust the browning control accordingly.
  • When toasting dark or other rich bread, use a slightly higher setting than you would use for plain white bread. Use a lower setting for fruit loaves as well as for sweet bread.
  • The best toast is made from bread that is a day or two old.
  • When slicing bread by hand, it is important to cut slices EVENLY for better, more even toasting.
  • Toast thin sliced bread on a lighter toasting setting. DO NOT toast bread wrapped in foil.
  • Your toaster should ONLY be used to toast bread that will fit freely into the toaster slots. AVOID forcing bread into the slots as it will not only stick in the toaster but also impede the automatic pop-up mechanism, causing toast to eventually burn.
  • Should bread get stuck in the toaster, remember to first unplug the toaster from AC Mains, let the toaster cool down, and then remove any bread residues with a wooden spoon or utensil.

CLEANING AND CARE

MAINTENANCE
This appliance has been designed to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper care and regular cleaning.

  1. Let the toaster cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Unplug the toaster from its AC mains electrical outlet.
  3. Do not use coarse or abrasive cleaners or steel wool to clean your toaster. Never spray or apply cleaners directly to your toaster. Instead, apply cleaner first to a soft cloth.
  4. Wipe the outside of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. Polish with a soft, dry cloth.

CRUMB REMOVAL
To remove excess bread crumbs from inside your toaster, simply slide the crumb tray, outwards to remove it, discard the crumbs, wipe clean and slide the crumb tray back into position. Clean after every use.

DO NOT
Do Not operate the unit without the crumb tray in place. This can damage your kitchen surface.

CAUTION
NEVER IMMERSE THE TOASTER IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID NEVER USE A METAL IMPLEMENT TO DISLODGE CRUMBS OR BROKEN PIECES OF BREAD

FITTING A NEW UK PLUG

Kitchenperfected-E2020-750W-2-Slice-Toaster-FIG-4

Your appliance operates on 220-240V~50Hz AC Mains and comes fitted with a 3-pin BSI-approved plug so that it is ready for use for the UK or Eire market. If for any reason you need to fit a new plug, the flexible mains lead must be connected as shown below: –

IMPORTANT
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:

  • BLUE
    • NEUTRAL (N)
  • BROWN
    • LIVE (L)
  • GREEN AND YELLOW
    • EARTH (E)

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter “N” or coloured BLACK. The BROWN wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter “L” or coloured RED. The GREEN AND YELLOW wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter “E”, the symbol or coloured GREEN.

DO NOT CONNECT EITHER WIRE ‘L’ OR ‘N’ TO THE EARTH TERMINAL OF A 3-PIN PLUG
Always ensure that the Mains Cord is located into the Plug through the Cord Guard or Cable Clamp and that the Cord Guard screws are tightened to clamp the Cord (outer sheath and inner coloured wires) in position in the Plug. Make sure the Plug top is also fitted securely. The supply cord cannot be replaced. If the supply cord is damaged, the appliance should be scrapped. This appliance must be protected by a 7 Amp fuse in a 13 Amp type (BS1363) plug. Should you need to replace the fuse, use only an ASTA-approved BS1362 fuse.
