LOCATION OF CONTROLS

A~ Toasting Slots
Insert one slice of bread per toasting slot. Do not try to insert more than one slice per slot as this could damage the appliance.
B – Carriage Lever
Once the bread slices are loaded into the slots, use the carriage lever to lower the slices into the toaster and activate the heating element.
C — Variable Browning Control
This toaster contains seven browning control settings. This controls the length of time that the bread remains exposed to the heating element.
D – Defrost function
Pressing the defrost button immediately after lowering the carriage lever will increase the length of toasting time to account for frozen bread to defrost before toasting.
E – Reheat button
This feature is useful if you’re making eggs or beans on toast (for example). Use this feature to reheat your toast if it has ejected from the toaster before your beans or eggs are ready. Care should be taken if you have already used a high browning setting, as the reheat function could potentially cause the toast to burn.
G – Cancel button
Pressing the cancel button will cause the bread to eject mid way through a toasting cycle.
H – Slide-out crumb tray
This allows users to remove crumbs from the toaster more effectively.
I – Power cord
Suitable for use with any British Standard 220-240v~50Hz mains supply.

OPERATION

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. STAND the toaster on a FLAT, STABLE surface, allowing enough room around the toaster for air circulation
  2. PLUG the power cord into a suitable 220-240v~50Hz mains supply.
  3. ENSURE that the carriage lever is FULLY RAISED and set the variable browning control to a MID POSITION (3).

TOASTING

  1. INSERT up to 2 slices of bread into the toasting slots.
  2. PUSH the carriage lever  DOWNWARDS until it CLICKS and LOCKS into place. This will automatically switch the heating element ‘ON’ and begin toasting.
  3. Toasting will continue for a period of time set by the browning control. We recommend using a mid setting to begin with and then use TRIAL and ERROR to find the OPTIMUM settings based on PERSONAL PREFERENCE.
  4. Once completed, the lever will automatically release toasting has carriage and the toasted bread wil ‘POP’ out of the toasting slots. The heating element will automatically switch ‘off at this stage.

Note: Electronic control means that the carriage lever will not click and lock into place to begin toasting if the power cord is not plugged into a sitable 220-240v~50Hz mains supply.
Note: Should you wish to abort the toasting cycle at any stage, simply press the cancel button. This will cause the carriage lever to automatically release and heating element to switch off. Should you wish to continue toasting, simply press the carriage lever back  down until it clicks and locks into place. Be aware that pressing the carriage lever back down to continue toasting will start the toasting cycle from the beginning so either turn the browning control down or monitor the toasting regularly otherwise bread may burn.
Do NoT
Do not try to insert more than 1 slices per slot as this could damage the appliance.
DEFROST FUNCTION

  1. PLACE  1 or 2 slices of FROZEN bread into the toasting slots.
  2. PUSH the carriage lever downwards until it CLICKS and LOCKS into place. This will automatically switch the heating element ‘ON’ and begin toasting.
  3. PRESS the defrost button IMMEDIATELY. This will increase the length of toasting time to account for frozen bread to defrost before toasting.
  4. Toasting will continue for a period of time set by the browning control. Once toasting has completed, the carriage lever will automatically release and the toasted bread will ‘POP’ out of the toasting slots. The heating element will automatically switch ‘off at this stage.

RE-HEAT FUNCTION
This feature is useful if you’re making eggs or beans on toast (for example). Use this feature to reheat your toast if it has ejected from the toaster before your beans or eggs are ready. Once your beans or eggs are almost ready, push the carriage lever downwards  until it clicks and locks into place and immediately press the reheat button. This will put the toast through a short cycle to reheat the bread without too much further toasting
Note: Care should be taken if you have already used a high browning setting, as the reheat function could potentially cause the toast to burn.

SUGGESTIONS FOR BETTER TOASTING

  • Bread Slices toasted together must be more or less of a similar size and thickness, to be toasted equally evenly.
  • Do not toast buttered bread or packaged food.
  • All breads do not toast alike. Adjustments to the browning control will need to be made for different brands and varieties of breads, and also for how fresh or otherwise the bread is. Bread that is several days old may need to be toasted at lower “browning” levels.
  • Because personal tastes vary, recommending precise browning control settings are difficult. A little experimentation with settings will eventually give the best setting to suit. Furthermore, it should be remembered that breads have different moisture contents, necessitating different browning control settings for toasting. Raise the loading handie at any time to check the toasted “colour” of the bread, and adjust the browning control accordingly.
  • When toasting dark or other rich breads, use a slightly higher setting than you would use for plain white breads. Use a lower setting for fruit loaves as well as for sweet bread.
  • The best toast is made from bread that is a day or two old
  • When slicing bread by hand, it is important to cut slices EVENLY for better, more even toasting
  • Toast thin sliced bread on a lighter toasting setting. DO NOT toast bread wrapped in foil
  • Your toaster should ONLY be used to toast bread that will fit freely into the toaster slots. AVOID forcing bread into the slots as it will not only stick in the toaster, but also impede the automatic pop-up mechanism, causing toast to eventually burn.
  • Should bread get stuck in the toaster, remember to first unplug the toaster from AC Mains, let the toaster ool down, and then remove any bread residues with a wooden spoon or utensil.

CLEANING AND CARE

MAINTENANCE
This appliance has been designed to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance.
Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper care and regular cleaning.

  1. LET the toaster COOL COMPLETELY before cleaning.
  2. UNPLUG the toaster from its AC mains electrical outlet

CRUMB REMOVAL
To remove excess bread crumbs from inside your toaster, simply slide the crumb tray, outwards to remove it, discard the crumbs, wipe clean and slide the crumb tray back into position.
Do NoT
Do Not operate the unit without the crumb tray in place.
CAUTION

  • NEVER IMMERSE THE TOASTER IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.
  • NEVER USE A METAL IMPLEMENT TO DISLODGE CRUMBS OR BROKEN PIECES OF BREAD.
