Introduction

The iTouchless sensorcan is a convenient and hygienic solution to get rid of rubbish in your home or place of business. Simply raise your hand toward the lid to trigger an automated lid opening via an infrared sensor. When you’re done, the lid will shut on its own.

About your iTouchless® Touchless Trash Can®

The touchless sensor operation promotes a germ-free environment. The AbsorbX® Odor Filter neutralizes odors. The lid sensor uses invisible and harmless, patented infrared technology for accurate and responsive lid open and close operation. There are two buttons on the front of the lid, “OPEN” and “CLOSE”, to open and close the lid manually, and an ON/OFF power switch on the back of the trash can lid. The infrared sensor on the lid will automatically open the lid when your hand or object is within 6 inches/10 cm of the sensor. The lid will remain open if the sensor detects any object within its radius and will automatically close in 4 seconds after the object is withdrawn.

VisioSense Indicator Light (LED Light)

1. When there is an object in the Sensor Zone, the LED Indicator Light will remain green and the Lid will remain open until object is removed from the sensor zone.
2. Once item is removed from the Sensor Zone, the LED Indicator Light will flash red to indicate that the lid will close in 6 seconds.
3. If an object is placed back into the Sensor Zone when the LED Indicator Light is flashing red, the light will turn solid green again and the Lid will remain open.

Attention

1. Do not submerge the lid in water as it houses the electronic control. You may clean it with a lightly dampened cloth.
2. Clean the trash can body only with products safe for use on stainless steel.
3. Do not press or force the Lid Cover to close. Lid will close automatically after your hand is removed from the sensor zone.
4. Replace batteries immediately when the indication light turns to yellow/amber. This will ensure the lid continues to operate properly.
5. Avoid direct sunlight on the infrared sensor.
6. Ensure there is enough room to operate the trash can without blocking the opening and closing of the lid.
7. Do not use a power adapter that is not authorized by iTouchless; it may result in fire, electric shock or injury.
8. Do not use power adapter and battery at the same time to operate the trash can. It can only be powered by one source at a time.
9. Do not overstuff trash bag. It may cause tearing or difficulty removing.
10. Automatic parts may not be suitable for small children or pets.

Operating the Lid / VisioSense™ Technology

• Turn on the power switch on the back of Lid Unit . A red Indicator Light will turn on for 3 seconds. It will flash once every 3 seconds to indicate the system is on and ready to use.
• Place hand or any object 6 inches above Infrared Sensor on the front of Lid Unit to open. When there is an object in the Sensor Zone, the LED Indicator Light will remain green and the Lid will remain open until object is removed from the Sensor Zone. Once item is removed from the Sensor Zone, the LED Indicator Light will flash red to indicate that the lid will close in 6 seconds. If an object is placed back into the Sensor Zone when the LED Indicator Light is
• flashing red, the light will turn solid green again and the Lid will remain open.
• If you press the open button, Lid will open, and remain open for 5 minutes before closing automatically – unless you press the close button. The trash can will then resume operating in automatic mode.

The Touchless Trash Can is equipped with an AbsorbX® Odor Filter Compartment that houses the odor-stopping AbsorbX® Odor Filter to eliminate trash odors up to 90%. One (1) replaceable AbsorbX® Odor Filter is pre-installed inside the Filter Compartment. Please follow the instructions below to maximize the filter’s effectiveness.

Tips

• Replace AbsorbX® Odor Filter every 3 months or when odor becomes too strong.
• If the carbon filter mount is too tight, unscrew to loosen it. WARNING: Be sure to property fasten both the carbon filter compartment and mount.

General Troubleshooting Steps

1. Turn off power switch, remove the battery or AC power adapter, then rub and wipe clean the sensor area with a soft, damp cloth and dry it immediately with a soft, dry cloth. Re-insert batteries or plug in AC adapter (DO NOT USE battery and AC adapter at the same time).
2. Place trash can in an open area where nothing is blocking or within 10 inches of the sensor eye. Make sure no sunlight or spotlight shines on the sensor. Turn on the power and try opening lid again.
3. If trash can is still not working correctly, remove the batteries or unplug AC adapter. Let trash can sit for at least 2 hours to reset. Try opening lid after resetting. If your trash can is still not working after trying these troubleshooting steps, please contact us through www.itouchless.com/contacts/ for warranty service.

The trash can is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship, given normal use and care, for 365 days from the date of the original purchase with proof of purchase within the United States and Canada. iTouchless will only honor warranty requests from orders placed with our authorized dealers. Items sold as used, floor sample or refinished are sold solely under the terms and conditions of the selling party; iTouchless will not warrant such purchase. iTouchless will repair or replace a working condition Lid Cover thereof which fails as the result of such a defect during the warranty period.

The warranty is the customers’ exclusive remedy for product defect and does not apply to:

• User modification
• Attachments to product by user that causes damage
• Any product, on which the seals and/or serial numbers have been broken, removed, tampered with, defaced or altered in any manner

Frequently Asked Questions

I see a lot of the reviews for this trash can are from years ago. Can someone tell how it is holding up? It seems most reviews are from 2006-2007.

I bought this in 2007, and left a review sometime in ’08-’09 about how much I loved this trash can. We are still using the same one and have only had to change the batteries a few times (in 12 years). The only reason I’m buying a new one today is because my kids were messing around the other day and slammed the lid shut, breaking the gear.

Can you lock the lid when you leave the house because of a curious dog? I just purchased one and there isn’t a way to “lock” it so your dogs can’t get in it. The only option is to turn off the power switch, but they can still get into it especially if they knock it over- the lid will just come off.

Has any body use the electrical adaptor instead of the batteries?, and how it work out
I bought two of these trash cans in 2020, one of which was with the adapter. They both work great. The adapter just plugs into the can and the other end into an electrical outlet.

Is the lid that opens plastic?

Yes it is a very durable black plastic. For a garbage can it is pretty cool. I mean as cool as a garbage can get.

Does the bag rip when you take it out because the can is bigger then the opening?

If the bag is full and the trash inside is compact, normal kitchen bags will rip on the way out. This is my one complaint with this unit. I switched to using trash compactor bags with it and have not had any rips since.

Is there a separate plastic can inside the stainless steel can?

No, there is a plastic ring to keep the bag in place.

Can i used this with no batteries? just want to open and close it by hand.

No you can’t. Even if you just used the open and close button instead of the motion detector you will still need batteries. The first D batteries I put in are still going strong. If you just want a 13 gallon stainless steel receptacle they are certainly less expensive than this one.

Is there a way to keep the lid open so I can dispose of multiple items and not have the lid close down on me?

If I need to dispose of multiple items I open it then turn off the power. Which will cause the item to stay in the open position.

I bought this product in Nov 2020, and its been a week that the sensor stopped working, if I manually press open and close buttons it works,

As I told Amazon it seems like the sensor stop working on the trashcan. As I told Amazon the only way to operate the trashcan was to push the open button to open the lid and the close button to close the lid. The sensor was not working at all. And that was the second replacement that I had of the touchless 13 gallon trashcan. I would not recommend this item to my friends or anybody.

Has anyone specifically bought this trash can to keep cats who know how to press buttons out?

There’s no button to press! There’s a sensor that is strategically placed up on the lid, that senses your hand or arm specifically in front of it, then the lid raises. Note can be sitting on the lid when it’s ready to go up/rise. I have to say, these garbage cans are FANTASTIC!

Lost inside ring that holds trash bag. Does anyone know whee to get parts?

No but Lisa be honestlyt you really don’t need the ring. Basically all it does is hold the bag in the can.

Can you plug it in instead of using the battery?

Yes, this product is compatible with the official iTouchless ac adapter which can be plugged in at the back of the lid. Please note that the ac adapter is sold separately, in bundle deals or unless otherwise noted.

Can it be opened manually?

It can be BUT buy the adapter and you don’t have to worry about batteries. I have found that opening it manually will in time break some of the teeth in the cogs and then it will not open automatic. But I must ask why would you want an automatic if you would open it manually. I love mine and I am on my 2nd one.

What makes this better than the less expensive 30 gallon?

I am sorry we have only 13 gallon cans and can’t make a comparison with the 30 gallon can.

Do the casters roll easily over grout or outside wood decks?

There are no casters. The can sits squarely on the floor.
