IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Basic safety precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before operating this appliance.
  • Clean all parts before using for the first time
  • Avoid contact with moving parts.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles and knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock do not immerse cord, plug or any part of this appliance in water or any other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children.
  • Unplug from wall outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or if the appliance has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Do not attempt to move this appliance while it is operation.
  • Do not use the appliance for other than its intended use.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while in operation.
  • Check appliance for presence of foreign objects prior to use.
  • Do not attempt to insert any utensils or other objects into the toaster while appliance is plugged in and/or while it is in operation. Doing so will lead to personal injury.
  • To disconnect, turn all controls to the OFF position and then remove the plug from the electrical outlet.
  • Oversized foods or metal utensils must not be inserted in the appliance as they may cause fire or risk of an electrical shock.
  • A fire may occur if the appliance is covered by or touching flammable materials such as curtains, draperies, walls, and the like when in operation.
  • Do not try to service the unit or remove hot dogs or buns that are stuck while the unit is plugged in.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not clean the appliance with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts, thereby, increasing the risk of an electrical shock.
  • This appliance is intended for use strictly with regular sized hot dogs and buns. Do not attempt to cook any other food items in this unit.
  • Some countertop and table surfaces such as Corian®, wood and/or laminates are not designed to withstand prolonged heat generated by certain appliances. It is recommended by countertop manufacturers that a hot pad or trivet be placed under your appliance to prevent possible damage to the surface.

SHORT CORD PURPOSE
NOTE: A short power cord is provided to reduce the risk of personal injury resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If an extension cord is used: (1) the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the product; (2) the extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can unintentionally be pulled on or tripped over by children or pets.

POLARIZED PLUG
If this appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other), please follow the below instructions:
To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If you are unable to fit the plug into the electrical outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use the plug with an extension cord unless the plug can be fully inserted into the extension cord. Do not alter the plug of the product or any extension cord being used with this product. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Remove all packaging materials; make sure all parts are included and are in good condition.
  • Wash the Hot Dog Basket, Tongs, and Crumb Tray before using for the first time. (See “CLEANING & MAINTENANCE” section for instructions)
  • Check inside all toasting slots to make sure they are clean. HOWEVER, DO NOT INSERT ANY OBJECTS OR POUR WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID IN THESE.
  • Dry all parts thoroughly before reassembling for use or for storage.
  • DO NOT IMMERSE THE TOASTER OR ELECTRICAL CORD IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.
  • Make sure the crumb tray is in place and the toasting lever is in the up position.
  • Place hot dog toaster on a flat surface at least 3 inches away from any obstructions (i.e. Walls, cabinets, etc…).
  • When using your unit for the first time, you may notice some smoke and odor. This is caused by the unit burning off the protective coating applied during the manufacturing process. It is normal and harmless and will go away with subsequent use. If the odor and smoke persist, discontinue use of the product immediately and contact customer service.

HOW TO USE

NOTE : Ensure that the Hot Dog Toaster is placed atop a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface where the appliance won’t easily tip over or fall. NOTE: Store the unit in a cool dry place.

TIPS

  • Use only regular sized hot dogs and hot dog buns.
  • DO NOT use Jumbo hot dogs or oversized buns as they will expand while cooking and get stuck.
  • Adjust the Shade Selector Dial according to the kind of buns and hot dogs used—some may require more time to cook.
  • For better results, keep hot dogs and buns at room temperature before cooking them in the toaster.
  • DO NOT COOK FROZEN HOT DOGS IN THE TOASTER!
  • Regularly clean the Hot Dog Basket and Crumb Tray.

  • DO NOT TRY TO PUT ON OR TAKE OFF PARTS OR CLEAN THE TOASTER WHILE IT IS IN OPERATION OR WHEN IT IS PLUGGED INTO AN ELECTRICAL OUTLET.
  • DO NOT OPERATE THE UNIT NEAR WATER OR WHILE IT IS WET!

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

CAUTION: NEVER submerge the entire toaster in water or any other liquid as this could lead to personal injury and will severely damage the appliance. DO NOT use abrasive soaps, detergents, or cleaning materials to clean any part of this appliance. DO NOT use metal utensils or scouring pads to clean any part of the Hot Dog Toaster; pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts, thereby, increasing the risk of an electrical shock. DO NOT clean the toaster while it is still plugged into the outlet or while still in operation.

  • Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet and allow the toaster to cool down completely before cleaning.
  • The Crumb Tray is located on the bottom of the side opposite of the toasting controls. Pull it out for cleaning only after the unit has been shut off, unplugged from the outlet, and has completely cooled. Clean and dry it thoroughly before reinserting it into the toaster.

  • Use a damp sponge or cloth to clean the exterior of the Toaster.

TIPS

  • Regularly remove crumbs and clean the Crumb Tray.
