INTENDED USE

Intended for ASTM 3 conditions. This is a set of conditions for the operation of a bicycle on a regular paved surface, unpaved and gravel roads and trails with moderate grades with irregular terrain where loss of tire contact with the ground may occur. As well as rough trails and unimproved trails that require technical skills. Jumps and drops are intended to be less than 61cm (24″).

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Hex and Torx wrenches (as required by the stem manufacturer)
  • Torque wrench
  • Grease

INSTALLATION:

  1. Loosen and remove the stem bolt(s) that tighten the stem clamp around the handlebar. For a stem with a removable faceplate, remove the faceplate.

  2. Place the Problem Solvers handlebar shims over the handlebar’s clamping area in the center of the handlebar.

  3. The gaps between the two shim pieces top, bottom and sides must be evenly spaced for adequate clamping force (fig. 1). Insert handlebar and shims into the stem’s clamping area

ONGOING MAINTENANCE

Periodically check to make sure all stem attachment bolts are properly tightened to the stem manufacturer’s torque specifications.
WARNING: Improper installation or repeated rotation of mounted components may lead to product failure, causing serious injury. Do not exceed specified torque values. Periodically inspect bolts and retighten if required.
If you experience any slippage of the shims or handlebar, stop using your bicycle and take it to a professional bicycle mechanic for inspection.
