After making proper power and ground connections, properly secure all loose and extra wiring.

OBD Port Connection (with Y-Cable)
  1. Locate the OBD port within the vehicle, removing vehicle panels, as necessary.
  2. Gently remove the factory OBD plug from the mount.
  3. Select and install the vehicle-appropriate adapter from Nauto’sOBD Adapter Kit (page 6).
  4. Using the appropriate adapter, replace the vehicle’s OBD port with the female end of the Nauto Y-cable.

  6. Plug the male end of the Nauto Y-cable into the vehicle’s OBD port.
  7. Zip tie all connections to help ensure plugs will not disconnect.

After making proper power and ground connections, properly secure all loose and extra wiring. A slot built into the side of the power supply unit can help to secure excess wiring to conceal and secure the wires of the harness, and trim or bundle up unused wires.

Installation | Power Cable Connection

Power Cable Connection
  1. Locate the power end of the power cable, or the end with the small black block (see image for reference).

  2. Leave 8-10″ of the cable exposed at the rearview mirror and route the cable safely and securely to the power supply unit.

  3. One way to do so that may be appropriate is as follows:
    a. Start tucking the cable under the windshield headliner starting just above the rearview mirror.
    b. The cable should be buried under the headliner so that it will not slide out or drop from the headliner.
    c. Route the cable to the left (driver’s side of the vehicle) and remove the A-pillar panel to route the cable around, behind, and away from all airbag components and related vehicle accessories.
    d. Pull the door gasket away from the body of the vehicle and run the power cable into the channel near the pinch weld, but without crossing over the pinch weld, towards the power supply unit.

  4. Bundle and secure all excess wiring so it will not interfere with vehicle and driver controls.

  5. Mount the bundled cable in a secure location under the dash of the vehicle with zip ties.

Insert the power cable end that extends from under the headliner into the device’s power port. The Nauto Device will now boot up.

2. Check for green lights on the device.
This can take up to one minute. Blue lights will appear on the device first, meaning the device is updating software, followed by two green lights.

3. Fit the windshield mount to the back of the Nauto Device.
Do not remove the adhesive backing at this time.

4. Review live images from the NautoDevice.
The Nauto Installer app will show live images from both interior and exterior cameras. This can take a few minutes.

5. Determine the optimal mounting location.
This is based on the live images and recommended locations (see image on right).

6. Locate the small screw on the accessible side of the device. Find this on the exposed side from the rearview mirror. Rotate the T5 screw clockwise to lock the Nauto Device into place. The other screw will not be tightened.

7. Mark the location for the Nauto device.
Using the provided measurements and live images as guidance, mark the location for he Nauto device on the windshield with tape or marker. This marked location should be at the bottom of where the bracket will be placed to give you a reference point to place the bottom of the bracket. For optimal device performance:

a. The forward-facing camera should have a clear view of the front of the vehicle with no obstructions.

b. The forward-facing camera should not be blocked by window tint or metal film found near the rearview mirror. If neither side of the rearview mirror will produce the desired result, please contact Nauto for additional options.

c. The driver-facing camera should not be easily obstructed by the driver-side visor or other OEM and aftermarket equipment.

12. Verify the mount and Nauto Device are securely attached.
From the outside of the vehicle, verify that the bracket adhesive is completely attached. Press and hold for an additional 15 seconds if not. Please see picture to right for how adhesive should look from the outside.
