PD1G Multipurpose Consumer Fire Extinguisher
Kidde Safety manufacture and supply a whole range of Fire Protection
Products for your Home, Work and Leisure
Fire Extinguishers should be installed in cooking areas, halls, landings,
workshops, cars/vehicles, boats, garden sheds, caravans, carried by tradesmen
etc.
Smoke Alarms should be installed in every room in the home including loft
areas, but excluding kitchens and bathrooms. Should also be installed in
boats, caravans and holiday homes.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms should be installed on each level of the home,
especially within living and sleeping areas.
Fire Blankets should be placed near cooking appliances in kitchen areas, in
the home/commercial kitchen, caravan/holiday home, boat etc.
Escape Ladder/s kept easily accessible on floors above ground level.

INSTALLATION AND ASSEMBLY
How to Assemble and Install Your Extinguisher with Bracket provided
WARNING!
Secure the mounting bracket provided with appropriate hardware to ensure the
extinguisher cannot fall as personal injury or property damage may result.
Wood screws (not provided) should be used for mounting in wall studs. Mounting
in drywall requires special hardware (not provided) such as toggle bolts,
mollies or proper screws and inserts to ensure adequate strength. DO NOT mount
in drywall with wood screws alone. Mount your extinguisher in an easily
accessible and prominent position.
Install extinguisher in a location that does not exceed specified temperature
range stated on label.
| When assembling the tightening
strap, make sure that the peg of the strap will grip into the hole of the
holder (see fig. A)

| When closing the red lock, the
twist locks (X) have to snap in audibly. The white discolouration of the hinge
has no negative influence on the durability of the lock (see fig. B)
1kg extinguisher requires one strap, 2kg extinguisher requires 2 straps
FIRE PROCEDURE
Remember
Get everybody outside and safely away from danger area in a safe place.
Call the Fire Brigade by dialling 999 (This number may be prefixed in
commercial premises).
Never put yourself, your family or other persons at risk.
Remember – Portable Fire Extinguishers can be used as a first remedy only.

Use only IF you can get within 2 metres. If you cannot, the fire is TOO BIG – DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO EXTINGUISH IT – Call the Fire Brigade immediately! -
Switch off all power supplies to avoid electrocution IF it is safe to do so.

When faced with flammable gas fires, only attempt to extinguish fire if the Gas supply can be turned off to remove explosion risk.
Close doors on your way out.
Do NOT stop to collect personal items.
FOR FAT AND OIL PAN FIRES: USE A FIRE BLANKET
Fire Extinguishers are not generally recommended for use on this type of
fire.
HOW TO USE YOUR KIDDE EXTINGUISHER
-
PULL PIN.
HOLD UNIT UPRIGHT. -
STAND BACK 2 METRES.
AIM AT BASE OF FIRE -
SQUEEZE LEVER AND SWEEP SIDE TO SIDE
Use upright with PASS technique:
P Pull the pin on the fire extinguisher, stand back 2 metres.
A Aim the fire extinguisher at the base of the fire.
S Squeeze the handle of the fire extinguisher to discharge contents.
S Sweep the fire extinguisher back and forth repeatedly to cover the base of
the fire.
After the fire is out, clean up dry powder immediately to avoid corrosion.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Carefully read through these instructions before setting up or installing the extinguisher and before using it for the first time.
- These extinguishers are PRESSURISED containers.
- Propellant gas is compressed nitrogen or compressed air.
- DO NOT incinerate
- Keep AWAY from children
- DO NOT discharge in a person’s face.
- Avoid contact with OR inhalation of extinguisher contents. Extinguisher contents are NON toxic but may cause eye, respiratory or skin irritation. In case of contact, flush eyes or skin with clean, cool water for 15 minutes. If irritation persists, contact a doctor IMMEDIATELY. The chemical names of extinguisher contents are printed on the extinguisher label.
- National regulations for the operation of fire extinguishers have to be observed as a matter of urgency.
- If possible, users must be suitably instructed of how to use and made aware of potential dangers of misuse.
- The extinguisher is pressurised. Do not subject to external force or open forcibly.
- Damaged or corroded extinguishers must be depressurised by an authorised person.
- Do not make any changes to the extinguisher – such as welding or soldering.
- Keep the extinguisher clean – only use a damp cloth, not strong cleaning agents.
- Do not subject the extinguisher to direct sunlight.
- Fire extinguishers in vehicles must be securely fastened down using the bracket supplied such that normal vibration and movements do not damage it.
- Only pass on extinguisher to a 3rd party if these instructions are included!
- Full pressure change 0 bar to 18.5 bar; max 500 load cycles.

Functional temperature range (related to the extinguishing agent): see printed
plate/pictogram Nominal rated operating pressure (sustained pressure
extinguisher) at +20°C or amount of propellant gas (pressurised fire
extinguisher): see printed plate/pictogram
The data given on the lettering plate relates to the unit in question. The
values given here must be followed! Year of production and production number
are displayed on the extinguisher cylinder
INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE
- Inspect the extinguisher AT LEAST once a month – more frequently if exposed to weather or possible tampering.
- Check the extinguisher is charged. If the extinguisher has a gauge, check the pointer is within the green section. SEE BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS.
- Be sure that the lock pin and tamper seal are intact and in place.
- Check for dents, scratches, corrosion or any other damage.
- Check the discharge nozzle. Make sure it is clean and free of obstructions.
- Discharge and discard after any use.
- WARNING! Never test extinguisher by partially discharging. Loss of pressure will occur and render the extinguisher ineffective. It MUST be replaced immediately.
WHAT THE GAUGE MEANS
Your fire extinguisher is fully charged when the pin is within the central
green section of the gauge.
If the pin is within the red sections your extinguisher needs replacing.
Warranty – Keep your Receipt
Kidde Safety Europe Limited warrant that for 6 years from the date of
purchase, this product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship.
This warranty will not apply to any product which we determine was subjected
to misuse, accident or alteration or was operated or maintained other than
according to our instructions.
In addition, this warranty only applies to the original end-user purchaser.
All implied warranties with respect to this product, including warranties for
merchantability and fitness for the particular purpose, are limited in
duration to the period of warranty stated above. Other than the warranties
listed above, we make no other warranties, express or implied.
The purchaser’s exclusive remedy for any breach of warranty shall be, at our
option, the repair, replacement, or return for credit of the product. In no
event will we, our Dealers or Distributors be liable to the Purchaser or any
other person for indirect, consequential, incidental or special damages. This
warranty does not effect your statutory rights. To obtain warranty
performance, if applicable, the product should be brought to the original
