SHARP INTERACTIVE DISPLAY
WEB BROWSER APPLICATION
OPERATION MANUAL
Introduction
This application:
- can browse web sites through the internet,
- needs an active internet connection to work properly.

Note

How to use
Starting this software
Follow the steps below to start this software.
- On the home screen or the all apps screen, tap the “Web Browser” icon: .
Once the app has opened, you will see the main screen (see next chapter).
Main Screen

Window that shows the content of the selected web page.

Homepage icon
The browser will open on the set start page, when the browser is opened.
Set homepage: to set a custom homepage, see page 5 (chapter Settings menu), number 8
Note: This icon will not appear if the Homepage function is turned OFF in the Settings Screen. -
Back icon
Back to previous web page which has been shown. -
Forward icon
Go to next web page which has been shown. -
Update icon
Reload a web page which is shown currently. -
Close icon
Close a tab of the browser. -
Open icon
Open a new tab within the browser. -
Address bar
When entering words/ a search terms, the registered search engine will open and show relevant results.
When entering a URL to a web page, the requested web page will open.
Set search engine: to set a custom search engine, see page 5 (chapter Settings menu), number 2. -
Book mark icon
Save the URL shown on the window as a book mark. -
Download icon
Download the web page shown on the window as a file.
Note: the webpage will be saved as a HTML-page and can be found in the Download folder of the display. -
Menu button
When touching the three dotted icon, the following window will appear: 11-1. Open a new tab.
11-2. Show the history of previous visited web page(s).
11-3. Show the list of downloaded files.
11-4. Show the list of saved bookmarks.
11-5. Show the list of tabs which have been recently used.
11-6. Request desktop site / request mobile site
Some web pages are better viewed in a desktop site version, while other are better viewed in a mobile website version.
With this setting you can switch between version to see which versions suits your needs best.
Desktop site: show the web page as you were using a mobile device.
Mobile site: show the web page as you were using a mobile device.
Note: when changing, it may be that the web page is still not show correctly, or contents on the web page did not change at all. Please reload the web page after switching this setting, in order to update the displayed content. If things did not improve after refreshing, the web page is not supporting this function.
11-7. Open Settings menu.
Note: if the interactive display is set to ask for the Admin Password, you need to fill it in the pop-up window in order to enter the Settings Menu of the browser.

Basics
1. Back icon| Close the Settings menu and go back to previous screen.
2. Search engine| Set the search engine you want to use.
3. Passwords
– Save passwords
– Auto Sign-in
– Check passwords
– Passwords| Settings related to password.
ON: filled in passwords will be saved within the browser for future use.
OFF: filled in passwords will not be saved within the browser.
ON: when a website for which you already saved your credentials, the web
browser will fill them in automatically.
OFF: even if you have saved your credentials, the browser will not fill them
in automatically when revisiting the website.
This function is not available due to security reasons.
Here you will find a list of saved credentials, listed by website.
Note: Due to security reasons the function to show and copy the password
are blocked. You can copy the login-name/email address however.
4. Address and more| ON: information such as address, phone number, and
e-mail address will be saved.
OFF: information such as address, phone number & e-mail address will not be
saved.
5. Privacy and security
– Clear browsing data
– Safe Browsing
– Always use secure connections
– Preload pages for faster browsing and searching
– Use secure DNS
– Do Not Track
– Privacy Sandbox| Settings related to privacy and security
Delete browsing history, cookies, site data, cache files, etc.
Select a safe browsing protection level. The details of each level can be seen
by accessing this menu.
ON: preferably HTTPS will be used when accessing web pages. If HTTPS is not
available for a certain web page, a warning message will be shown before
accessing that particulate web page.
OFF: the browser will not give a warning if HTTPS is not supported by a web
page.
ON: the browser preloads web pages which are expected to be accessed by the
user before they are, to be shown faster.
OFF: the browser does not predicts behavior and will only load a web page if
it is required.
To protect your privacy and security you can use the secure DNS function. By
default this function is turned on.
ON: the browser encrypts your information during the lookup process. If
looking up the website in this mode is having issues, it will look up the site
in the unencrypted mode.
OFF: the browser will not encrypt your information during the lookup process.
ON: a tracking refusal request will be sent while browsing the Internet.
OFF: the browser will allow web page to track information while browsing the
Internet.
Note: Whether or not to respond to the request depends on the website.
Privacy Sandbox allows vendors selected for advertising to take an
advertiser’s website data and to place users in interest groups specifically
defined for a given advertiser, meaning that users can see tailored ads, with
no infringement on their privacy. This function is still a beta-version.
ON: the function is allowed to track.
OFF: the function is not allowed to track.
6. Notifications| ON: you can select when notifications will be shown.
OFF: notification will be hidden.
7. Theme| Select a display design theme.
Advanced
8. Homepage| ON: The home page button will be visible in the browser. When
clicking on the icon, you will be directed to the home page. The home page can
be set here too.
OFF: the home page button in the browser will not be visible anymore.
Note: only when the option is turned ON, you can set a customer home
page.

9. Toolbar shortcuts| Select the toolbar icons which will be visible in the web browser, like share & new tab.
10. Accessibility
– Text scaling
– Force enable zoom
– Simplified view for web pages| Various options to adjust the user interface based on individual needs.
Change the text size of the web page.
Note: as not all web pages support this function, it may be that changing this setting will not have any effect.
ON: even though a web page has restricted the use of the zoom function, you will still be able to zoom in.
OFF: the web page will prevent the zoom function and therefore you cannot zoom in on the web page.
ON: makes websites more mobile-friendly by simplifying the formatting and removing nonessential elements.
OFF: the website will be shown as is.
11. Site settings| Here you can set the permissions (e.g. camera, microphone, sound, etc.), either by permission type or by website.
All sites: a list with website, in which you can individually set permissions.
Various permissions: a list with permission types, which you can set. You can block specific website per permission type.
12. Languages
– Web Browser’s language
– Content languages| Setting related to language
Select the language of the browser itself.
Select the language which is displayed when surfing the Internet. If a website supports the set language it will be shown. If it is not supported, the default language of the website will be shown. You can list multiple languages.
13. Downloads
– Download location
– Ask where to save files| Settings related to files being downloaded via the browser.
Select the location where you want to save the downloaded file.
If no external storage device (e.g. USB flash drive) is attached to the display, the only option to save is the internal storage. When an external storage device is connected to the monitor, you can select “Download” or “External storage”.
If you select the internal storage, the file will be saved in the default folder:
[internal storage]/Download
The default folder for the external storage is: [External storage root
folder]/Android/data/jp.co.sharp.visualsolutions.idpiwb .browser/files/Download
ON: when initiating a download, a pop-up window will appear which allows you to select the folder in which you want to download the file.
OFF: when initiating a download, the file will be downloaded in the default folder.

Note: When an external device is attached it will get priority over the internal storage.
14. About Web Browser| The application version information, operating system information of the running system and license information are displayed.
Exiting this software
Follow the steps below to exit this software.
- Tap the home icon on navigation bar of the monitor
- Or close all tabs of the browser.
