Intended use
This device is intended for installation in a 5.25” slot of a computer
chassis. It allows quick changing of 2.5” SATA SSDs/HDDs without opening the
computer chassis.
This device complies with the applicable national and European requirements.

We will not be liable for any software, hardware or data stored within or
interfacing with CHIEFTEC products which results in damage or malfunction. To
utilize the hot swap function, the host must also support this function. Even
if the SATA controller supports hot swap function, we recommend that you don’t
remove the hard drive during operation, because the backward motion during
removal could cause the write/read head to make contact with magnetic disk in
the drive, which destroys the hard drive.
Installation
Install the device in a free 5.25″ drive bay and use the rack screws which are
included in delivery to fix the device properly in the pc chassis.
Connect the 4PIN molex power connector(s) from your psu to the device and also
the SATA data cables which are also included in scope of delivery to your
mainboard or controller card.
slide the release mechanism of the device tray to the left and release the
tray to install a HDD/SSD with four screws from below as shown on the image as
follows:
Now slide the tray back in the cage and repeat the installation process for
all HDDs/SSDs you want to install. This device accommodates drives with up to
9.5mm height.
Operation
If you don’t have the expertise to install the device correctly, please
contact an expert, specialist workshop or your local dealer and let them carry
out the installation!
If you insert a brand new hard drive into the backplane make sure that its
partitioned and formatted before the system detects it properly. In Windows
systems you can format it easily in the control panel under disk management.
Switch off the computer in which the device is to be installed and ensure that
all connected devices are separated from the main voltage. Therefore pull the
mains plug off! Note’ turning off at only the on/off switch is not enough!
Each hard drive tray can be released if the key lock is open. All necessary
keys are included in delivery.
Disposal
Electrical and electronic devices do not constitute household waste. Dispose of unserviceble products in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.
