OPTIONAL Leviosa Shades Installation Instructions For wiring to 12VDC

Generally, Leviosa Motor Shades are powered with a Hidden Battery pack or Plug in Wall Adapter. Either is included in the price o f the shades. Some customers want the option of hardwiring their shades to a power source, usually hidden in the wall or ceiling, which has benefits of unlimited power with the sophisticated appearance of no wires showing. The power source is installed separately and may require professional electrical installation. Leviosa Motor Shades are easily able to wire directly to 12VDC source of power. Do NOT connect motors directly to 120V AC.

  • You can use standard Leviosa brackets, or square (3”, 4”, 5”) brackets. Please let us know when ordering if you want the squ are brackets (use “Notes to Seller” in the
  • Technical requirements: 1.0A per shade, 12.5 VDC (+/ 0.5V). 2.0A for shades > 96” width.
  • Many power supplies have variable outputs around 12 VDC so ensure to adjust to over 12 VDC.
  • Please check and comply with all local electrical regulations for type of wiring and installation, and seek Professional Electrical help if you are not sure.

Wire Location for INSIDE mount

Wires from 12 VDC power supply should install so they do not interfere with the bracket:

  • On LEFT side of shade, 1” from the wall, and within 3.5” of the back of the bracket so the wires are hidden behind the valance cover that attaches to full front of bracket.
  • Please leave 12” wire leads to attach to a 120V power supply or directly (12VDC) to motor wires.

Wire Location for OUTSIDE mount

Wires from 12 VDC power supply should install so they do not interfere with the bracket:

  • Anywhere in line with the bracket, so it is hidden behind the valance cover that attaches to full front of bracket.
  • Please leave 12” wire leads to attach to a 120V power supply or directly (12VDC) to motor wires.

Choose the size of wire to match the longest wire from 12VDC power supply to the shades.

  • Account for wiring one shade to other shades with the same wire – the longest distance in the line of shades to the last shade
  • Assumes copper wire, 12 VDC, all shades running at once.

12VDC Power supply options from Leviosa Shades:

  • 2 power supply boxes for either 4 shades or 18 individual shades

Wire connections to Motor at Left Bracket (4.5”)

3”, 4”, and 5” square brackets will NOT have tabs to hold wires. Use space above and below shade for wiring.
