Preparing for the Load Test

Before using SIGMA LT, the load bank must be connected to a main power supply to energise the control panel. The supply on test must be correctly cabled in to the load bank.

WARNING!
Read the load bank manual before use and take special note of all safety warnings.
Keep people well away. Close all doors. Ensure cables and earthing are adequate. Risks include fire and burns from the hot air outlet and electric shock.
Please keep at least 4m between load banks to prevent hot air recirculation.

The Load Test

Master Load
Turn the MASTER LOAD switch on. The MASTER LOAD LED will illuminate. If load is applied, press MASTER LOAD to immediately reject all load on test.

Load Select

  1. Press any combination of the LOAD SELECT switches to choose the required load in kW. The control panel displays select values of 5kW, 5kW, 10kW, 10kW, 10kW, 20kW, 20kW, 20 kW. If you require 25kW, select 10kW, 10kW and 5kW. After a one second delay the load will be applied.
  2. Repeat step 1 to change the load i.e. If the load required is now 15kW, press one of the 10kW switches to deselect and after a one second delay 15kW of load is applied. The one second delay provides a synchronous load change.
  3. If required, load can be pre-selected when the MASTER LOAD is off. Select the load required and press MASTER LOAD to apply it.

Instrumentations & Options

Metering
Measured instrumentation values will be updated on the display. Press MODE to cycle through the different instrumentation displays: 3 phase Voltage and Currents or Voltage, Frequency and Power.

Control Power
If fitted, press the CONTROL POWER switch to reject load and turn off the display.

Single phase testing
To operate in single phase mode, press and hold the MODE switch for 10 seconds. Press MODE again to cycle through the current connection types: Conn, 3ph, AbC or Conn, 1ph, AB-C or Conn, 1ph, A-C.

Voltage Select
If fitted, the voltage select allows full load bank kW capacity when the switch is in the 240V position.

Errors
If an error occurs it will show on the LED metering displays e.g. err conn. The yellow warning LED will illuminate. Errors include loss of communication, over voltage and over temperature. Acknowledge the error by pressing the MODE switch, the warning LED will remain illuminated until the fault condition is cleared.

Networking
Networking of load banks is available with the Sigma LT hand-held. The hand- held connects to the upper socket of the load bank control panel. Control will automatically switch to remote mode when load is applied from the hand-held.

Up to 25 load banks can be added to the network, all controlled by a single hand-held. For hand-held operation please view the hand-held quick start guide.
