Cutting Instructions:
Background Fabric:
Cut (16) 2-1/2” squares
Cut (16) 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” rectangles
Star Fabric:
Cut (4) 4-1/2” squares
Cut (32) 2-1/2” squares
Border:
Cut (2) 1-1/2” x 16-1/2” strips
Cut (2) 1-1/2” X 18-1/2” strips
Binding:
Cut (2) WOF Strips
Backing: 24” square Start by making the flying geese units. Pair one 2-1/2”
square for the star with a 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” background rectangle. Put RST and
draw a line diagonally across from one cor- ner to the other. Sew on the drawn
line and trim 1/4” away from the sewn line. Press and repeat on the other side
of the rectangle to make the flying geese unit. Make (16). To assemble the
basic Sawtooth Star lay out the block as diagramed below. Assemble each of the
rows and press seams open. Sew the three rows together and press open. Block
should measure 8-1/2” square. Make (4). To assemble the mini quilt lay out the
four blocks as diagramed and sew together.
Sew the (2) 1-1/2” x 161/2” strips to the left and right sides of the block
and press out towards the border strip.
Next, sew the (2) 11/2” x 18-1/2” strips to the top and bottom. of the block.
Press out towards the border strip.
Quilt and bind as desired.
