APEX WAVES NI PXIe-2525 Multi-Bank Configurable 2-Wire Multiplexer

Product Information

The NI PXIe-2525 is a multi-bank configurable 2-wire multiplexer relay module. It is designed to provide reliable switching capabilities for various applications. The module’s specifications are subject to change without notice.

Input Characteristics
The NI PXIe-2525 is suitable for voltage measurements in Measurement Categories CAT I and CAT O. These categories are intended for measurements on circuits that are not directly connected to the electrical distribution system, such as signal levels, limited-energy parts of hardware, and circuits powered by regulated low-voltage sources.

It is important to note that when hazardous voltages (>42.4 Vpk/60 VDC) are present on any channel, the safety low-voltage (42.4 Vpk/60 VDC) cannot be connected to any other channel.

Switching Power
The maximum switching power of the NI PXIe-2525 is 60 W or 62.5 VA. It is essential to ensure that the switching power does not exceed these limits, as it is limited by the maximum switching current and voltage.

Maximum Current
The maximum switching current for each channel is 2 A. The maximum current for carrying purposes is also 2 A per channel.

Minimum Switch Load
The minimum switch load for the NI PXIe-2525 is 20 mV/1 mA. However, it is not recommended for 2-wire resistance measurements.

DC Path Resistance
The initial DC path resistance for the NI PXIe-2525 is not specified in the provided text extract.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Ensure that the NI PXIe-2525 is properly installed in your system according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the input characteristics and limitations of the module to ensure safe and accurate measurements.
  3. Avoid connecting the safety low-voltage (42.4 Vpk/60 VDC) to any other channel when hazardous voltages (>42.4 Vpk/60 VDC) are present on a channel.
  4. Ensure that the switching power does not exceed the maximum specified limits of 60 W or 62.5 VA.
  5. Take note of the maximum switching current of 2 A per channel for both switching and carrying purposes.
  6. Avoid using the NI PXIe-2525 for 2-wire resistance measurements as it is not recommended.
  7. For switching inductive loads, such as motors and solenoids, consider implementing additional protection to prevent high voltage transients that can interfere with module operation and impact relay life.
  8. For more information on transient suppression and other related topics, visit ni.com/info and enter the Info Code relayflyback.

DEVICE SPECIFICATIONS
NI PXIe-2525

Multi-bank Configurable 2-wire Multiplexer
This document lists specifications for the NI PXIe-2525 (NI 2525) multiplexer relay module. All specifications are subject to change without notice. Visit ni.com/manuals for the most current specifications.

About These Specifications

  • Specifications characterize the warranted performance of the instrument under the stated operating conditions.
  • Typical Specifications are specifications met by the majority of the instrument under the stated operating conditions and are tested at 23 °C ambient temperature. Typical specifications are not warranted.
  • All voltages are specified in DC, ACpk, or a combination unless otherwise specified.
  • Caution The protection provided by the NI 2525 can be impaired if it is used in a manner not described in this document.

Input Characteristics

Maximum switching voltage

  • Channel-to-channel…………………………………………………………..150 V
  • Channel-to-ground…………………………………………………………..150 V, CAT O

Note
This module is rated for Measurement Category I. It is intended to carry signal voltages no greater than 150 V. This module can withstand up to 800 V impulse voltage. Do not use this module for connection to signals or for measurements within Categories II, III, or IV. Do not connect to MAINS supply circuits (for example, wall outlets) of 115 VAC or 230 VAC. Refer to the Read Me First: Safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility document for more information about measurement categories.

Measurement Categories CAT I and CAT O (Other) are equivalent and are for measurements performed on circuits not directly connected to the electrical distribution system referred to as MAINS voltage. This category is for measurement of voltages from specially protected secondary circuits. Such voltage measurements include signal levels, special hardware, limited-energy parts of hardware, circuits powered by regulated low-voltage sources, and electronics.

Caution
When hazardous voltages (>42.4 Vpk/60 VDC) are present on any channel, safety low-voltage (≤42.4 Vpk/60 VDC) cannot be connected to any other channel.

  • Maximum switching power………………………………………………………………….60 W, 62.5 VA
Caution The switching power is limited by the maximum switching current, the maximum voltage, and must not exceed 60 W, 62.5 VA.

  • CH-COM DC isolation resistance………………………………………………………………….>1 GΩ, typical at 25 °C

Maximum current

  • Switching…………………………………………………………..2 A (per channel)
  • Carry…………………………………………………………..2 A (per channel)
  • Minimum switch load………………………………………………………………….20 mV/1 mA

Note The NI 2525 is not recommended for 2-wire resistance measurements.

Note
Switching inductive loads (for example, motors and solenoids) can produce high-voltage transients in excess of the module’s rated voltage. Without additional protection, these transients can interfere with module operation and impact relay life. For more information about transient suppression, visit ni.com/info and enter the Info Code relayflyback.

DC path resistance

  • Initial…………………………………………………………..<0.8 Ω

  • End-of-life…………………………………………………………..≥1.8 Ω
