If the crossed-out bin symbol appears on the equipment or packaging, this means the product must not be included with other general waste at the end of its working life. The user must take the worn product to a sorted waste centre, or return it to the retailer when purchasing a new one. Products ready for disposal and measuring less than 25cm can be consigned free of charge to dealers whose sales area covers at least 400m², without any purchase obligation. An efficient sorted waste collection for the environmentally friendly disposal of the used device, or its subsequent recycling, helps avoid the potential negative effects on the environment and people’s health, and encourages the re-use and/or recycling of the construction materials. GEWISS actively takes part in operations that sustain the correct salvaging and re- use or recycling of electric and electronic equipment.

PACK CONTENTS

  • 1x direct connection KNX single-phase energy meter
  • 1x installation manual

IN BRIEF

The KNX meter performs the function of measuring the energy power on the KNX BUS and is able to monitor up to twenty absorption limit threshold levels. It’s installed on a DIN rail inside an electric board or junction box. The device supports KNX Data Secure: this technology increases the security of a KNX installation both during start-up as well as during normal operation through the exchange of encrypted telegrams.
The device is fitted with (see Figure A):GEWISS-GWA9801-Direct-
Connection-Energy-Meter-FIG-1 \(1\)

  1. Power supply phase input
  2. Power supply neutral input
  3. Neutral output for measuring instantaneous power
    • Backward push-button
    • Forward push-button
    • push-button The device has a segmented display for viewing:
  4. the electric measurement/parameter visualized, the relative value and signaling icons
  5. Active parameter setting mode
  6. Active power threshold; icon on if the threshold is exceeded, off if not exceeded
  7. Energy measurement unit kWh
  8. Power measurement unit kW

FUNCTIONS

The device performs the following functions:
Measurement of electric sizes

During normal operation, the display can show (Figure C):GEWISS-GWA9801
-Direct-Connection-Energy-Meter-FIG-1 \(3\)

  1. Instantaneous active power; “P-” is indicated if the power is produced
  2. Active energy consumed; max. 5 figures (99999 kWh, 2 above and 3 below)
  3. Active energy produced; max. 5 figures (99999 kWh, 2 above and 3 below)
  4. Power threshold status: “OFF”; “ON” based on the status of its activation for the monitoring function
  5. As per the previous point

The device shows the absorbed power page (1) 60 seconds after the last pressing of a button key. The device can transmit the sizes measured via KNX.

For information purposes only, information about the electric network parameters is available. To view these data (Figure D), go to the instantaneous power page (10) and press the or button UP DOWN  key for at least five seconds until the first parameter (11) appears. The parameters available are:

  • 11. Current [A]
  • 12. Voltage [V]
  • 13. Power factor
  • 14. Frequency [Hz]

Energy counter reset
The energy counters (produced and consumed energy) can be reset (Figures E, F): from the energy page (2, 3), press the SET button key for at least 5 seconds until the confirmation page (6, 7) appears. Press SET to reset the counter; press UP DOWN or to annul the reset operation. Power thresholds
It is possible to set up to twenty absorption limit thresholds to be monitored; it is possible to send signals when these thresholds are exceeded or not and count how long the measured power is above the threshold or how many times it exceeded the limit. It is possible to activate or deactivate threshold monitoring by subsequently pressing the SET button key (8, 9, in Fig G).GEWISS-GWA9801-Direct-Connection-Energy-Meter-FIG-1

BEHAVIOUR UPON BUS VOLTAGE/POWER SUPPLY FAILURE AND RESET
If a voltage failure takes place, the device memorises the status of the various active functions; when the power supply is restored, any active power thresholds are reassessed again.

ASSEMBLY

For the electrical connections, refer to figures H and I. To connect the KNX bus terminal, refer to Figure B.GEWISS-GWA9801-Direct-Connection-Energy-
Meter-FIG-1 \(2\) To operate correctly, the meter must be installed immediately downstream from the main switch (which should be a switch disconnector according to Standard CEI 64-8 V3, but which in this case must be a miniature circuit breaker (MTC) to protect the meter); in this way, it can measure the real consumption of the home. The meter neutral output (3) must be connected to the input of the two residual current circuit breakers of the home.

PROGRAMMING

The device must be configured with the ETS software. The device supports the KNX Data Secure protocol and can be programmed to communicate securely on the bus. Detailed information about the configuration parameters and their values is given in the Technical Manual (www.gewiss.com).
