Sure-Crisp® Air Frying Tips From Our Test Kitchen
- Air frying cooks and browns evenly by circulating hot air, which crisps food with little to no added oil.
- Sure-Crisp® AIR FRY mode may require more cooking time than standalone air fryers.
- Rack Position used to air fry depends on size of food to be cooked. Use Rack Position 1 or 2 for most foods. Keep at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) between food and upper heating elements.
- For best results when air frying, set temperature between 400°F-450°F (204°C-232°C). Preheat Oven for shorter cooking times/ improved crispness.
- Avoid opening Oven door while cooking frozen French fries or chicken nuggets until cooking cycle is nearly done.
- Check food for desired doneness before end of cooking cycle. Add or reduce cooking time as needed.
- Cut uniform-sized pieces and arrange foods in a single, even layer in Air Fry Basket for even cooking results.
- A light spritz of cooking oil before cooking provides crispier texture.
- AIR FRY mode with foods that can drip: Place Baking Pan on Oven Rack under Air Fry Basket when air frying foods that are juicy or fatty.
- Delicate foods such as fish and hand-breaded items should be cooked in a single, even layer.
- Most foods (larger/thicker) may need to be flipped, stirred, or rotated during cooking.
- Breadcrumbs make crunchy air fried coatings. Avoid sauces or batters.
- For easier cleanup, spray or wipe Air Fry Basket with cooking oil of choice before adding food.
Sure-Crisp® Air Frying Guide
Place food in a single layer in Air Fry Basket. Foods may need to be
flipped, stirred, or rotated halfway during cooking. Foods that can’t be
flipped might need to be lightly covered with foil, if getting too brown.
NOTES:
- Times are a guide for different types of foods which vary in cook time. Cook food until desired crispness.
- Cooking times are based on a preheated Oven.
- For prepared foods, check recommended packaging temperature and cook time.

- Using a lower cooking temperature when grilling may help with food splattering; increase grilling time if temperature is reduced.
- Always read all safety information.
- Always use wooden or plastic heat-resistant utensils (450°F [232°C]) when grilling. Grill Plate is coated with a nonstick surface and metal utensils will damage cooking surface.
- For best results, preheat Grill Plate 5 to 10 minutes before grilling.
- If using wooden skewers, soak skewers in water at least 10 minutes before threading on food to reduce scorching skewers during grilling.
