INTRODUCTION
Thank you for choosing a Vicair® product.
The Vicair Back Connector is used to attach the Vicair Multifunctional O2
wheelchair back support cushion to a tension adjustable strap back. Vicair
products provide a high level of skin protection for wheelchair users with a
high risk of developing pressure injuries.
INDICATIONS
The Vicair Back Connector is used to provide comfort, and stable body support,
improve body posture and help prevent pressure injuries.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
When used as intended, there are no known contraindications.

PRECAUTIONS AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
A Vicair wheelchair Back Connector may only be used as a wheelchair Back
Connector. The use of this product in any other way is considered to be a
misuse. Vicair B.V. cannot be held responsible for damage caused by misuse,
improper use, or negligence. Make sure that you read and understand this
manual completely.
Warning! Vicair recommends installing the Vicair Back Connector under the
direct supervision of a therapist or Assistive Technology Professional.
Warning! No testing data is currently available about the safe use of
Vicair back support cushions in motor vehicles. Therefore we do not encourage
using the back support cushion with the Back Connector in motor vehicles.
Warning! In case of soiling with body fluids, and when transferring the
product to another user, the product must be disinfected to avoid cross-
contamination.
Warning! Every three months, check the product for wear. In case of
serious damage, do not continue to use the product. Consult your Assistive
Technology Professional.
Warning! Using the Vicair Back Connector may affect the static and
dynamic behavior of the wheelchair. Check and test the balance and stability
of the wheelchair with the aid of your therapist or Assistive Technology
Professional.
Caution! Do not use or leave the product close to a naked flame or a
high-temperature heat source.
Caution! Do not dry clean, steam clean, or autoclave the product. The
product cannot withstand excessive heat or pressure. When given cleaning
instructions are not followed, it is very likely that the product will age
more rapidly.
Caution! Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaners, or sharp objects to
clean the cushion.
INSTALLATION
Notice! Make sure that the wheelchair strap back is clean and degreased.
Notice! When installing the Vicair Back Connector ensures that the bottom
of the Back Connector is placed adjacent to the top of the wheelchair seat
cushion.
These steps correspond to the installation images 1-4.
- Check the size. The width (X) of the Back Connector and strap back should match. The length (Y) of the Back Connector should match the length of the strap back (see figure 1).
- Place the Back Connector against the tension adjustable strap back of the wheelchair. Press it firmly against the tension adjustable strap back, to connect the hook and loop strips on the back side of the Back Connector to the tension adjustable strap back (see figure 2).
- Flip the flap of the Back Connector over to the back of the wheelchair (see figure 3).
- Fasten the flap of the Back Connector onto the seat of the wheelchair using the hook and loop strips on the wheelchair and the flap (see figure 4).

This Vicair product is ready for use.

Re-use – Transferring the product to another user
The product is suitable for repeated use. The number of times it can be used
depends on how often and in which way the product is used.
The product has to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before another person
is allowed to use it. See chapter ‘Maintenance and cleaning’ for instructions.
Notice! Make sure the product is correctly connected to the other chair.
Disposal
The disposal and recycling of used devices and packaging must comply with the
applicable legal regulation. Ensure the product is cleaned prior to disposal
to avoid any risk of contamination.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Cleaning the Vicair Back Connector
Your Vicair Back Connector can be hand washed at 30 °C using a mild detergent.
Do not use any chlorine bleach and do not dry clean. Do not tumble dry your
Vicair Back Connector but let it air dry.
Disinfecting your Vicair Back Connector
Clean the Back Connector as instructed above.
Preferably use an antibacterial detergent.
Warning! After washing spray your Back Connector with disinfectant. Bend the
Back Connector outwards to make sure the spray gets into the seams.
REPORTING OF SERIOUS INCIDENTS
Serious incidents from the use of Vicair products should be reported to the manufacturer and the relevant competent authority.
WARRANTY
Vicair offers a limited warranty against defects in workmanship and materials
for a period of 24 months after the original date of purchase. For general
