SEALEY AK4013 3-60V Integrated Test Light Voltmeter

Product Information

The AK4013 is an integrated test light/voltmeter manufactured by Sealey. It is designed to provide testing and measurement of DC voltages between 3 and 60 volts. The product is built to a high standard and, if used according to the provided instructions and properly maintained, it will deliver years of trouble-free performance.

Safety Precautions

  • Do not use the test light with domestic 110-230V supplies. Only use it with DC voltages between 3 and 60 volts.
  • Observe standard workshop safety procedures when using the meter.
  • Keep the work area clean, well-lit, and uncluttered.
  • Ensure proper balance and footing, wearing non-slip shoes.
  • Remove any ill-fitting clothing, ties, watches, rings, and loose jewelry.
  • Keep extension leads and probes away from hot surfaces and rotating parts.
  • Do not disassemble the meter.
  • Avoid using the test light in damp or wet locations or areas with condensation.
  • Use the meter only for its intended purpose.
  • Do not use the meter if it is damaged.
  • Store the tester in a safe, dry, childproof location when not in use.

Product Usage Instructions

Voltage Measurement

  1. Push down the hook on the meter and rotate it clockwise to expose the testing probe (refer to Fig.1).
  2. Select the wire you want to test and safely pull it out using the hook.
  3. Touch the testing probe to the exposed wire to measure the voltage.

AC/DC Indication:

  • If the LCD display shows a red background and a “+” sign, it indicates positive polarity.
  • If the LCD display shows a green background and a “-” sign, it indicates negative polarity.
  • If no “+” or “-” sign is displayed and the background light is red, you are connecting with an AC voltage source. Stop the measurement in this case.

Over-Voltage Warning:

Ensure that you only use the tester within the specified voltage range. Exceeding this range may damage the tester and/or cause harm. Stop the measurement if any of the following warnings appear on the LCD:

  • 70 ~ 100V: OL0 will be displayed on the LCD.
  • 100 ~ 200V: OL1 will be displayed on the LCD.
  • 200 ~ 300V: OL2 will be displayed on the LCD.
  • Greater than 300V: OL3 will be displayed on the LCD.

Maintenance

Repairs:

Repairs or servicing should only be performed by qualified personnel.

Cleaning:

  • Remove grease and grime from the meter using a clean, dry cloth. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
  • Avoid using alcohol, ammonia, or cleaners containing solvents.

Thank you for purchasing a Sealey product. Manufactured to a high standard, this product will, if used according to these instructions, and properly maintained, give you years of trouble free performance.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. NOTE THE SAFE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, WARNINGS & CAUTIONS. USE THE PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE DAMAGE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY AND WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY. KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS SAFE FOR FUTURE USE.

SAFETY

WARNING! DO NOT use test light with domestic 110-230Volt supplies. Only use with DC Voltages between 3 and 60Volts.

  • Observe standard workshop safety procedures when using the meter.
  • Keep the work area clean, uncluttered and ensure there is adequate lighting. Keep tools and other items away from the engine and
  • ensure you can see the working parts of the engine clearly.
  • Maintain correct balance and footing. Ensure the floor is not slippery and wear non slip shoes.
  • Remove ill fitting clothing. Remove ties, watches, rings and other loose jewellery. Contain or tie back long hair.
  • Ensure extension leads and probes are kept clear of hot surfaces and rotating parts.
  • DO NOT drape cables around neck or arms – danger of entanglement.
  • DO NOT disassemble meter.
  • DO NOT get test light wet or use in damp or wet locations or areas where there is condensation.
  • DO NOT use the meter for any purpose other than for which it is designed.
  • DO NOT use the meter if damaged.
  • When not in use, store tester in a safe, dry, childproof location.

INTRODUCTION

Identifies the polarity of the circuit being tested on the LCD, red for positive and green for negative. Wire hook probe design, makes piercing wire insulation easier, the hook can be locked out of the way when probing terminals. LCD meter draws minute currents making this tool safe around delicate electronic components. With a range of 3-60V DC, this tool is suitable for motorcycle, car, mild hybrid and commercial vehicles. Supplied with 3m coiled cable and insulated crocodile earth clamp. Do not use on airbags. Battery 1 x CR2032 (supplied).

SPECIFICATION

  • Model No.:……………………………………………………….AK4013
  • Accuracy: …………………………………………………… ±(1%+0.3V)
  • Computer Safe: …………………………….Testing current < 10mA
  • Range: …………………………………………………. 03-60V DC

OPERATION

VOLTAGE MEASUREMENT

  1. Push down the hook and rotate it clockwise to expose the testing probe.

  2. Contact the probe to the 3 ~ 60V DC voltage source.

  3. Connect the test probe to positive and clip to the negative of the test object or circuit. The voltage value and “+” will be displayed on the LCD with a “Red” background when the circuit is live.

  4. Connect the test probe to negative and clip to the positive of the test object or circuit. The voltage value and “-” will be displayed on LCD with “Green” background when the circuit is live.
NOTE: If user removes the probe away from the voltage source, the measured value will be held on the LCD about 3 seconds.

  5. AC/DC INDICATION

  6. A red background and ‘+’ sign indicates positive polarity.

  7. A green background and ‘-’ sign indicates negative polarity.“-“ sign and green color background indicates negative polarity.

  8. If no “+” or “-“ sign shows on the LCD, and the background light is red color, you are connecting with an AC voltage source. Please stop the measurement.

  9. OVER-VOLTAGE WARNING

  10. Only use the tester within the specified voltage range. Exceeding this range may damage the tester and/or cause harm.
WARNING! Please stop the measurement if any of the following warnings appear on the LCD:

  11. 70 ~ 100V, “OL0” will show on the LCD

  12. 100 ~ 200V, “OL1” will show on the LCD

  13. 200 ~ 300V, “OL2” will show on the LCD

  14. 300V, “OL3” will show on the LCD

  15. Voltage greater than 400V may damage the tester, please make sure the tester is not damaged before next measurement.

MAINTENANCE

REPLACING THE BATTERY (FIG.3)

  1. Rotate the tail cover and pull out the PCB to replace the battery.
  2. Insert the new battery into the battery slot, with the positive side facing outward.
  3. If “Lo” and red color background light appears on LCD, it indicates low battery power. Please replace the battery.
  4. If the value on the LCD is flashing, it indicates low battery power. Please replace the battery.
  5. If nothing appears on LCD and the background light doesn’t light up, it indicates no battery power or the battery polarity is reversely installed. Please check the battery polarity or replace the battery.
