QUICK START GUIDE
Congratulations on your new MPPT Supercharger! You should already have a print
copy of the Flex User Manual (it came with your Flex system). If not, don’t
worry, a digital version can also be found online. We highly recommend you
read the sections in the Flex User Manual that talk about the MPPT
Supercharger carefully.
In the meantime, here are a few quick tips to get your new MPPT Supercharger
set up with your Flex.
-
We suggest you initially hang on to your packaging, at least until you’ve used the product for a little while. The MPPT Supercharger doesn’t require special packaging; however, if you encounter any problems it will be much easier to ship in its original box.
-
Inspect the MPPT Supercharger for any damage that may have occurred during shipping and handling. DO NOT use the MPPT Supercharger if it appears damaged. Contact Inergy Tech Support for troubleshooting help first.
-
To install the MPPT Supercharger on your Flex system
a. Carefully place the MPPT Supercharger on the bottom of your Flex stack and secure it in place by sliding each orange latch towards the front of the system until it engages with the magnetic catch inside.
b. NOTE: Although you have the option of placing the MPPT Supercharger anywhere in the stack, it will perform best when used at the bottom of the stack.
c. NOTE: Because the Flex power console manages and enables the Flex Battery(ies), it must be powered on for the MPPT Supercharger to function correctly. -
The MPPT Supercharger contains two MPPT charge controllers. Each charge controller is capable of receiving 16V to 90V of charge input, parallel or series, with a charge rate of up to 380W. That’s a total charge rate of 760W in addition to that of your Flex console.
-
As it charges your Flex system, the MPPT Supercharger may reduce/increase the charge rate based on fluctuations in the system, such as Flex console output power, solar panel status (shading, less sun, etc.), battery temperature, and charge level. If you see the charge rate changing on the LCD screen, don’t worry, the MPPT Supercharger is functioning properly.
-
Once you connect the MPPT Supercharger to the rest of your Flex stack, it’s best to leave it connected full time. Think of the modules as parts of a whole that will work much more effectively together than apart.
-
We suggest you disconnect your solar arrays from your MPPT Supercharger when not in use and when your Flex power console is removed. This will ensure maximum system life and reduce the risk of damage from surges, lightning, and other extraneous events. Disconnect the MC4 connections before disconnecting the EC8 connector if your VOC is above 45V to reduce the risk of electric shock.
