Battery-related safety instructions

WARNING

  • This appliance contains batteries that are only replaceable by skilled persons.
  • WARNING: For the purposes of recharging the battery, only use the detachable supply unit provided with this appliance.
  • The built-in battery must only be replaced by a qualified service provider using the exact same or equivalent type battery. Incorrect battery installation could lead to an explosion.
  • Keep the unit in a temperate climate. High temperatures can damage the AirHood’s performance and reduce the battery’s lifespan. Exposure to low temperatures and then warmer temperatures can cause condensation inside the unit that may damage the electronic circuits.
  • Disposal of a battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting of a battery, can result in an explosion.
  • Danger of explosion! A battery subjected to extremely low air pressure, extremely high temperatures or intense heat sources such as direct sunlight or naked flames may result in an explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
  • High or low extreme temperatures that a battery can be subjected to during use, storage or transportation:
  • during use:   -10°C to 40°C  /  14°F to 104°F
  • storage:   -10°C to 40°C  /  14°F to 104°F
  • transportation:   -10°C to 40°C  /  14°F to 104°F
  • Do not charge the battery longer than specified as this can reduce the battery’s lifespan. Charge the battery fully when using the unit for the first time.
  • Charge the battery at least once a month, even if you are not using it, to protect the battery and ensure its longevity.
  • In the event of a leak, immediately contact the wholesaler, retail outlet or service centre for assistance. If the battery acid has leaked, avoid any contact with the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Should you accidentally come into contact with the battery acid, rinse the affected area and contact a doctor.
  • To prevent the battery from overheating:
  • When the room temperature ambient temperature reaches 65°C, the protection will be activated. All device functions will turn off (light, fan, charging circuit).
  • When the ambient temperature drops to about 60°C, the functions will not be restored immediately. The user needs to perform operations to restore the device’s function.
  • When the function is available, all battery indicator lights will turn on until the user resets the device.
  • To initiate the reset the user will have to slide the switch to “O” level. If it is already on “O” level, then it needs to slide to another level and return to “O” so that the PCB can receive the signal.

CHARGING THE BATTERY

  1. Make sure the power switch is set to the off position O.
  2. Connect the charging plug to the charging socket on the AirHood and plug the other end into the mains socket.
    • The indicator lights turn on sequentially to show the battery is charging and become steady to indicate the level of battery charged. All 5 indicator lights are steady when the battery is fully charged.
    • Charge the battery fully the first time. This takes up to 3 hours and provides up to 3 hours of runtime depending on the power level used.
    • After the first full charge of the battery, you can use the AirHood while the battery is charging.
  3. When the battery is full charged, unplug the charging cord from the AirHood and the mains power socket.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Your AirHood sucks in cooking fumes and filters them. The oil filter extracts grease particles, and the charcoal filter removes smoke and toxic fumes. The purified air is then passed through the air diffuser on the back keeping your kitchen clean and odour-free. The AirHood performs best when used with one or two hobs.

  1. Connect to the power source.
    • Make sure the battery is charged or the charging cord is plugged in.
  2. Place the AirHood on a stable, horizontal surface.

  3. If purchased, we recommend using the Base Boost accessory when cooking with large pots or pressure cookers to maximise the suction potential of the AirHood. To attach the Base Boost to the AirHood, align the 4 nodules on the Base Boost with the grooves on the bottom of the AirHood, and then twist the base anticlockwise until it locks into place.airhood-AH-01BG-AH-01BU-Wireless-Portable-Kitchen-Hood \(6\)
  4. Slide the power switch to the desired setting:airhood-AH-01BG-AH-01BU-Wireless-Portable-Kitchen-Hood \(7\)
  5. When you are not using the AirHood, make sure the power switch is in the off position O and make sure it is disconnected from the power supply.
  6. Stow your AirHood on a countertop or hang it up and create more space in your kitchen.

CLEANING AND CARE

Note

  • Do not use solvents, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents, wire brushes, sharp objects or scouring pads to clean the AirHood.
  • Never immerse the AirHood main body, charger/power cord in water.
  • The AirHood is designed to make cleaning quick and easy. To keep your AirHood in tip top condition, we recommend that you clean the main unit and the oil filter after each use and change the charcoal filter after every 100 hours of use.

WARNING

  • Make sure the power switch is in the off position O and that the AirHood is disconnected from the power supply.
  1. The air duct is fixed into place with magnets. Simply pull the tab on the top of the air duct to release and remove it. Similarly, pull the tab on the air diffuser on the back of the AirHood and remove it.
  2. The oil filter is attached to the back of the air duct. It comprises 2 parts, the stainless steel mesh and the frame that holds the mesh in place. Turn the oil filter frame anticlockwise to remove it from the air duct. Then, pop out the wire mesh.
    • TIP: When reassembling the oil filter, make sure you put the mesh into the oil filter frame, align the frame with the groves on the air duct and then twist the oil filter frame clockwise until the two parts slot firmly together.
    • If the charcoal filter becomes a bit wet (this may happen when it is used for filtering water vapour), remove the charcoal filter and let it dry naturally away from the AirHood. We recommend that you also check the oil filter for moisture and if necessary dry it with a towel. Only reassemble when both filters are completely dry.airhood-AH-01BG-AH-01BU-Wireless-Portable-Kitchen-Hood \(8\)
  3. If it is time to change the charcoal filter, lift out the old one and replace it after cleaning the main body.
    • TIP: When you handle the charcoal filter, you may see some carbon/charcoal residues (little black specks), this is normal and does not mean that the charcoal filter is degrading. When inserting a new filter. Make sure the filter is tucked behind the two clips that hold it in place.
  4. Clean the main body with a damp soft cloth.
  5. Clean the air duct, oil filter, and air diffuser using a mild detergent and a soft cloth.
    • Only the oil filter is dishwasher safe. Do not put any other parts in the dishwasher.
  6. Dry all parts thoroughly and reassemble the AirHood.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

If you are not using the AirHood for a long period, always clean and store it in its original packaging in a dust-free, dry environment.
