GENERAL INFORMATION

This user manual is the most important component for the safe and damage-free assembly, use and maintenance of your new push bike. It should teach you the most important basics, support you during assembly and give you helpful tips for use throughout the life of your push bike. If you have any doubts or uncertainties regarding the work on your push bike, you should always consult a qualified bicycle mechanic or the PROPAIN service.

This user manual must be read and understood before using the push bike for the first time. Make sure that third party users are also informed about the contents of this manual and that they understand and observe the contents.

Keep this user manual for future reference. If you sell or give away your push bike, please include this user manual.

This user manual is also available at www.propain-bikes.com.

TARGET GROUP

The target group of this manual are the parents / guardians of the rider of the PROPAIN push bike.

Assembly and maintenance works require basic knowledge in bike technology. If you have any questions, a qualified bicycle mechanic or the PROPAIN service must be consulted. Incorrect assembly or incorrect maintenance of the push bike can lead to serious accidents with fatal consequences!

TOOLS

Work on the bike may only be carried out with suitable tools. Screw connections must be tightened to a defined torque using a torque wrench. Faultless assembly or disassembly of the components can only be guaranteed if the tools are in perfect working order and undamaged.

INTENDED USE / AGE LIMIT

PROPAIN push bikes are designed for children between 2 and 5 years old. The push bike must be used under adult supervision in an environment appropriate to the child’s abilities.

SAFETY

WARNING

DANGER OF ACCIDENT DUE TO IMPROPER ASSEMBLY OR HANDLING!

  • Installation must be carried out by a person with sufficient knowledge and skills. If you have any doubts or questions, you must seek the help of a trained bicycle mechanic or the PROPAIN Service!
  • The push bike must be checked regularly for damage and malfunctions. If there are any abnormalities, the push bike must not be used any longer.
  • The child must be supervised by an adult at all times when riding.
  • For each use, the provisions according to “4. Use of the push bike” on page 6 must be observed.

USE OF THE PUSH BIKE

General information on the use of the push bike

  • The child must wear a suitable helmet and closed, sturdy shoes on every ride and use protective equipment like gloves, knee and elbow pads.
  • The wheel may only be ridden in the so-called protected space.
  • The protected space refers to an area in which the child can develop and develop skills undisturbed by external influences or dangers, as for example a flat area.
  • The child must be supervised by at least one adult at all times.
  • The PROPAIN push bike has no brakes. The focus of the first few rides should be to teach the child to come to a stop safely.
  • The supervising adult must observe at all times whether the child is assessing situations correctly and whether the push bike is under control according to the requirements of the environment.
  • Due to the child’s natural urge to move and discover, the supervising adult must be prepared at all times for inattentiveness and sudden changes of direction or destination.
  • The toy must be used with caution, as it requires skill, in order to avoid collisions that could cause injury to the user and third parties.

For the safety of the child, do not use the push bike in the following areas:

  • on roads and pavements used by public traffic
  • on steep slopes
  • near water
  • near stairs or a step

Adjusting the saddle height

The height of the saddle must be chosen so that the child touches the ground safely, with slightly bent legs. Observe the child while riding and adjust the saddle height from time to time if necessary.
On the seat post there is a marking for the minimum insertion depth. The seat post must be pushed in so far that the marking is not visible.

Tire pressure

A correctly adjusted tire pressure contributes significantly to the push bike’s handling characteristics. Low tire pressure effectively absorbs minor bumps and jolts. Due to the low body weight of the child, we recommend a tyre pressure of 1 bar.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

Regular maintenance and care ensure a long and reliable service life as well as unrestricted function. PROPAIN recommends the following activities:

  • Check all wear parts (tires, grips, saddle) for wear and replace them if necessary.
  • Check the following tightening torques regularly:
  • Axle bolts of both wheels: 8 to 12 Nm
  • Clamping screws of the stem :8 Nm
  • Clamping screw of the seatpost clamp: 4 to 5 Nm
  • Check the air pressure in the tyres. We recommend a tyre pressure of about 1 bar
