Prior to installing the timing components, make sure that the crankshaft is at the top dead center (TDC) cylinder 1.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.
NOTE : For additional information, refer to Specifications (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Specifications). -
WARNING : Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands. Raise and support the vehicle.
NOTE : For additional information, refer to Timing Cover (303-01B Engine – GTDi 2.0L Petrol/GTDi 2.0L Petrol SULEV, Removal and Installation). -
Remove the timing chain.
NOTE : Discard the washer. -
Install a new washer. Renew Part: Crankshaft sprocket friction
- washer Quantity: 1.

Install the timing chain.

Torque: 10 Nm.

Torque: 10 Nm.

Connect the battery ground cable.

This is a “Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure”
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.

Instructions

INSTALLATION
- NOTE : Install a new washer.
- Renew Part: Crankshaft sprocket friction washer Quantity: 1.
- Install the timing chain.
- Torque: 10 Nm
- Torque: 10 Nm
