Best speaker placement for my sound bar?
For the best sound experience, position the sound bar and subwoofer as
shown. The sound bar should be close to the ear level.
If the subwoofer is too boomy or lacking impact, adjust the Subwoofer level with your remote control or try various placements.
How do I adjust sound settings and levels?
Using the included remote, you can easily adjust many different sound
settings and levels to optimize your listening experience, including EQ modes,
bass level, subwoofer level, and more.

Can I connect to a Voice Assistant (VA) device?
Connect your voice assistant devices (sold separately) to the sound bar for

The sound bar will automatically lower the volume while watching a movie or listening to music when a VA device is connected.
How To Pair
To pair your VIZIO V20-J8 2.0 Compact Home Theater Sound Bar with a compatible device, such as your TV or a smartphone, you can follow these steps:
- Make sure your soundbar is turned on and that it can hear the device you wish to pair it with.
- Finding the “Pair” or “Bluetooth” button on the VIZIO V20-J8 soundbar is important. It often sits on the soundbar’s top or side panel. Hold down this button while you wait for the Bluetooth indicator light to begin flashing.
- Navigate to the Bluetooth settings menu on your device (such as a TV or smartphone). This is typically located in your device’s settings or connections menu.
- If Bluetooth isn’t already enabled, do so in the Bluetooth settings menu. Next, look for Bluetooth devices that are already connected or scan for new ones. Your soundbar should have a name like “VIZIO V20-J8” or something similar in the list of supported devices.
- On your device, choose the VIZIO V20-J8 soundbar from the list of compatible devices. To finish the pairing process, enter a PIN code (often “0000” or “1234”) if required.
- The Bluetooth indication light on the soundbar will cease blinking and stay steady after a successful pairing, signaling a successful connection. Additionally, a notification confirming the pairing will be shown on your device.
- By using your smartphone to play audio or music, you can check the connection. The VIZIO V20-J8 soundbar should now play the audio.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the satellite speakers wireless too?
No, they connect by included 15 foot wires. I thought I might have to upgrade the speaker cables but was pleasantly surprised to find that the included cables were of a decent gauge and plenty long for spacing apart. I don’t recommend wireless rear speakers as the connection is via Bluetooth and sometimes the signal is weak causing loss of connection.
Can the satellite speakers be mounted via a threaded mount?
They have wall mounts that come with them. The speakers are threaded for their system.
Can you control the subwoofer independently?
Yes, you can control bass through the remote control. Just flip through the settings on the remote you will see the level up/down on the front speaker LED lights. There are no physical buttons on the subwoofer itself.
Is volume level displayed on the TV while connected thru hdmi?
Only when the tv speakers are on as well. Don’t know why that is though.
Can this soundbar be mounted directly to the tv?
I wouldn't recommend doing so. I mounted mine to the wall.
Does this soundbar have a night mode?
Yes. Use the “Effects” feature to toggle on and off.
Does it support 240v? Both subwoofer and soundbar?
Yes just use an adapter when plugging into an eu outlet.
Can you connect aother back speaker to it?
The rear speakers are connected to the subwoofer which sports one left and one right channel outlet. In order to connect additional speakers you would have to get a splitter for each outlet.
Can the satellite speakers be set for stereo mode (meaning they output the same audio as the front speakers)?
Yes. The remote has many settings including a music setting.
What are the dimensions of the subwoofer?
The subwoofer is ten inches tall, eight and a quarter inches wide, and deep.
Can the surround sound speakers be upgraded?
In VIZIO Sound Bar Systems the components are self-contained and balanced, so the wattage transmitted between each internal component is already configured to give you the maximum Sound Pressure Level. Additional speakers cannot be added.
