Product Usage Instructions

Indoor Fixtures

  1. Connect the positive supply wire (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to the positive fixture lead with an appropriately sized twist-on connector – refer to Drawings 1 or 2.
  2. Connect the negative supply wire (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to the negative fixture lead.
  3. Refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.

Outdoor Fixtures

  1. Connect the positive supply wire (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to the positive fixture lead with an appropriately sized twist-on connector – refer to Drawings 2 or 3.
  2. Connect the negative supply wire (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to the negative fixture lead.
  3. Cover the open end of connectors with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal. If installing a wall mount fixture, use caulk to seal gaps between the fixture mounting plate (backplate) and the wall. This will help prevent water from entering the outlet box. Ifthe wall surface is lap siding, use caulk and a fixture mounting platform especially.
  4. Refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.

Flush Mount Fixtures

For positive grounding in a 3-wire electrical system:

  1. Fasten the fixture ground wire (typically copper or green plastic coated) to the fixture mounting strap with the ground screw – refer to Drawing
    • Note : On straps for screw-supported fixtures, first install the two mounting screws in the strap. Any remaining tapped hole may be used for the ground screw.

Chain Hung Fixtures

  1. Loop the fixture ground wire (typically copper or green plastic coated) under the head of the ground screw on the fixture mounting strap and connect the loose end of the fixture ground wire directly to the ground wire of the building system with appropriately sized twist-on connectors – refer to Drawing 2.

Post-Mount Fixtures

  1. Connect the fixture ground wire (typically copper or green plastic coated) to the power supply ground with an appropriately sized twist-on connector inside the post.
  2. Cover the open end of the connector with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal – refer to Drawing 3.

Please note that you should also refer to the grounding instructions provided below to ensure proper electrical connections.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Find a clear area in which you can work.
  2. Unpack fixture and glass from carton.
  3. Carefully review instructions prior to assembly.

NOTE : Shut off electrical current befoer starting. If the fixture you are replacing is turned on and off by a wall switch, simply turn the switch off. If not, remove the appropriate fuse (or open the circuit breakers) until the fixture is dead.

WARNING : DO NOT restore current – either by fuse, breaker, or switch – until the new fixture is completely wired and in place.

MOUNTING

  1. Thread two long 8-32 screws (1) into the mounting strap (2).NOTE: The two screws must be threaded into holes that match the mounting hole spacing (M) on the canopy (3) – see Drawing 1.
  2. Attach the mounting strap (2) to the junction box with two 8-32 x 1 inch machine screws (5) [NOT PROVIDED]. Previously installe screws can be used.
  3. Make electrical connections following instruction sheet (IS-18) provided.
  4. Assistance is recommended during installation of the fixture to the ceiling.
  5. To install fixture, first lift assembled fixture up to ceiling and slip screws (1) on mounting bracket through holes (M) in canopy (3). Secure fixture to ceiling by threading barrel knobs (4) onto end of screws (1) and tightening. NOTE: Adjust mounting screws (1) to proper length then tighten hex nut (7) against the mounting plate (2) to secure screws.

SAFETY WARNING:
READ WIRING AND GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS (I.S. 18) AND ANY ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS. TURN POWER SUPPLY OFF DURING INSTALLATION. IF NEW WIRING IS REQUIRED, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES FOR CODE REQUIREMENTS

GLASS INSTALLATION

  1. To install glass (1) first thread coupler (2) off of the center stem assembly (A)- see drawing 2. This will allow the glass cap (3) to  slide along the center stem freely.
  2. Prior to attaching glass the glass to the fixture body the glass to the fixture body the bulb should be installed
  3. Next take glass (1) and slip one side of bracket (Z) into top of glass Now slide glass over and slip opposite side of bracket (Z) into the top of glass. Rest glass on tabs (T) of bracket (Z)
  4. Now slide glass cap (3) down over the hole in the top of glass and thread coupler (2) down the center stem to lock glass in place

Wiring Instructions

Indoor Fixtures

  2. Connect negative supply wire (C) (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to negative fixture lead (D).
  3. Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections

  • Flush Mount Fixtures
