Operating instructions for phasing tester (200 to 250 V ~)

Used to determine AC voltage.
Keep these instructions for future reference and pass them on with the phasing tester.

CAUTION! Risk of death due to electric shock!

  • Phasing testers may only be used to determine and test the phase conductor.

  • The voltages indicated on the phasing tester are nominal voltages.
The phasing tester may only be used at the specified voltage or within the voltage range of 200-250 volts.

  • Test the function of the phasing tester shortly before use.

  • The phasing tester must not be used when exposed to precipitation, such as dew or rain.

  • Phasing testers are not designed for use on live equipment to determine the condition (operational voltage present or not present) of low-voltage installations.

  • Locking caps must not be removed. If the cap or housing has been opened, the phasing tester must no longer be used, as safety is impaired.

CAUTION! Never use the phasing tester as a screwdriver!

Before each use:

  1. Check the insulation jacket of the phasing tester for damage. Do not use a damaged phasing tester.
  2. Test the function of the phasing tester glow lamp on a connected socket. Dispose of damaged or malfunctioning phasing testers.

WARNING! Failure to perceive the light indicator does not guarantee absence of voltage.

The visibility of the light indicator may be impaired by the following factors:

  • Unfavourable lighting conditions, e.g. in sunlight
  • Temperatures outside the range of-15°C to +40°C
  • Frequencies outside the range of 50 to 500 Hz
  • Unfavourable locations such as on wooden stepladders, insulating flooring and in non-earthed AC voltage systems

To determine if AC voltage is present, carry out the following steps:

  1. Hold the tip of the phasing tester against a contact on the electrical cable and
  2. Touch the other end of the phasing tester with a finger.

If AC voltage is present, the neon bulb will light up.
