Instruction Manual
8898300 Pressure Regulator
Translation of the original user‘s manual
Pressure regulator for propane-butane pressure vessels Heron® 8898300 with
an output pressure of 30 mbar and a maximum gas flow rate at the output of 1.5
kg/hod. is intended for installation on standard propane-butane pressure
vessels weighing 10 kg / 30 kg, designed for supplying, for example, domestic
gas stoves, cookers, etc. connected via a gas hose with an internal diameter
of 8 mm, which is rated for propane-butane (e.g. Extol® Premium 8848121). To
connect the regulator to a 2 kg pressure vessel, it is necessary to first
install a safety valve (e.g. the Meva brand). The regulator is intended for
propane-butane in the gaseous state, not for liquefied propane-butane
designated as LPG. The ambient temperature for use of the regulator is -20°C
to +50°C. This regulator model is primarily sold as a supplementary accessory
with gas powered power generators of the Heron® brand operated in outdoor
environments and powered using propane-butane in the gaseous state from
standard propane-butane pressure vessels.
INSTALLING THE PRESSURE REGULATOR
FOR PROPANE-BUTANE (PB) PRESSURE VESSELS
-
Shut off the gas outlet from the PB pressure vessel by turning the valve in the direction of the “OFF” arrow.
-
Prior to connecting the pressure regulator to the thread on the gas outlet from the PB pressure vessel, wind Teflon tape intended for gas installations on to the it in order to seal the threaded connection. Ensure that the regulator has a sealing ring in the location of the flange. Spare sealing rings for the pressure regulator are available for purchase, e.g. the Meva brand.
ATTENTION
• To connect the regulator to a 2 kg pressure vessel, it is necessary to first install a safety (push out) valve (e.g. the Meva brand). -
Screw the flange of the regulator on by hand and then tighten it appropriately using a wrench.
-
Thread a metal clamping band on to the end of the gas hose (see figure), and then slide the end of the gas hose on to the nozzle of the pressure regulator by hand.
-
Use a screwdriver to properly tighten the clamping band to ensure that the hose cannot be pulled off the nozzle of the regulator. ATTENTION
• Only connect gas hoses intended for gaseous propane-butane to the pressure regulator that meet the norm, e.g. EN 16436-1, EN 14800 etc. Using different hoses is forbidden due to the possibility of the plastic wall of the hose being compromised by gaseous hydrocarbons, which could lead to undesirable gas leaks. -
Finally, perform a leak test as follows. When the hose is connected to the gas appliance, open the gas supply from the pressure vessel, and then around the flange of the pressure regulator on the PB pressure vessel and in the connection location of the gas hose, apply a soap water solution or detergent water or another foam-forming solution. If an undesirable gas leak exists, then bubbles will form in the location of the escaping gas. If there is a leak, try tightening the flange on the regulator or the metal clamping band. If, despite this, the leak continues, seal the thread better with the Teflon tape.
• When the pressure regulator is not connected to the appliance via the gas hose, prevent the ingression of mechanical particles or liquids into the pressure regulator via the inflow and outflow openings by placing the pressure regulator into a plastic package.
When using pressure vessels with propane-butane, follow the safety
instructions of this pressure vessel.
Never turn a pressure vessel containing propane-butane upside down because
there may be liquid on the bottom of the pressure vessel which could enter
into the pressure regulator and into the powered gas appliance, which could
result in burning liquid being sprayed out.
Do not use the pressure regulator outside the temperature range of -20°C to
+50°C.
Never install the pressure regulator on other types of pressure vessels using
various connecting adapters, etc. and for gases other than gaseous propane-
butane.
To ensure proper operation, the norm recommends that the pressure regulator is
replaced with a new one after 10 years of use under normal operating
conditions. The year of manufacture is marked on the pressure regulator. The
pressure regulator meets the requirements of norm EN 16129.
