Microphone Placement
The logo of “M” on the body of the microphone indicates the front of the
microphone and the pick-up area of the cardioid pattern. Please be sure to
have the side of the logo facing the sound source you wish to record. As with
many other aspects of the recording process, finding the preferred sound is a
matter of experimentation.
Recording vocals
- We strongly recommend using the pop filter for all vocal recordings. This aids in minimizing plosive sounds (hard P, & T, and K sounds) that produce a sudden jet of air which can cause the capsule to overload and produce a popping sound.
- Any moisture on the microphone capsule can cause problems for condenser microphones, however, the use of the pop shield will reduce the risk of this occurring.
- Placement of the microphone and pop filter relative to the vocalist may be varied on several factors including room acoustics, the vocal performance, and whether the vocalist has a high or deep voice.
- An ideal reference is to begin with the pop filter directly in front of the vocalist, and approximately 15cm (6) away from the microphone. This will assist in keeping the performer at a constant minimum distance from the microphone O and helps to maintain reasonable recording levels.
- Experimentation should be made with the angle from which the microphone is addressed, as different results can be achieved when the vocalist off-axis to the microphone.

If this mic kit is suitable for recording audio books what recording software should I use?
Yes, this would work well for that. I would use Audacity if you’re looking for free software or Adobe Auditon if you want to spend a little.
I'm using desktop speakers. Will I get a lot of feedback using this microphone near the speakers?
You shouldn’t if you use both filters. Why not just use a headset? Pros do. I do. Don’t use speakers until after all recording.
When you have the microphone, do you need a phantom power to handle it?
It plugs into your pc, not an audio interface. so there's no need for Phantom power.
Do I have to use a headset when recording audio?
No, you don’t have to wear headphones while recording. If you are recording while singing, you may need to wear headphones to listen to the accompaniment music. If you don't want to listen to any accompaniment and sound, but just want to record audio, you can not wear headphones, and then put out the sound to listen to your recorded audio after the recording is over.
How thick is the part of the clamp that goes on top of your desk?
The top black piece is about a 1/4 inch thick, the adjustment will close all the way down but I ended up putting a small wood shim in there bc my glass desk is very thin, wanted to give it some stability
How is it for recording live guitar music ?
It might detect noise as it's pretty sensitive so it all depends on your recording environment or the software you use to record.
Does it pick up the clicking of the keyboard?
If you correctly match your settings then it should not pick up the sound of the keyboard. I found that for some reason the default sound was through my GPU and Nvidia broadcast and at that point my keys could be heard. If you get the settings correct it will be fine.
Is it compatible with Xbox?
We are sorry that the AU-A04 microphone is not available for Xbox. But it works on all laptops, PCS, and phones, and you can use it on those devices.
Is a mic included? i dont want to spend 40+ dollars on a stand
Yes, the AU-A04 USB microphone kit includes a Condenser Mic, it also includes an Adjustable Scissor Arm Stand + Metal Shock Mount + Pop Filter + Foam Mic Windscreen + Table Mounting Clamp + USB-B to USB-A Cable.
Do you have to assemble it?
There is an assembly process in the video on our product page, which is very simple. You have to do is screw in the table clamp and mic holder,
Can you connect/use it on a chromebook?
Yes, this USB microphone can be used with Chromebooks. The microphone is plug- and-play, no driver or software is required.
Will it work with a PS4?
The USB microphone can work with your PS4.
Do i need both usb connected at the same time?
No. This is a usb microphone. Its cable is usb cable and plugs and play.
Can you use this by turning it upside-down?
Yes you can use the microphone by turning it upside-down. Turning it upside- down does not affect it in any way to my experience.
