Overview
Hoe Transport Adapter
- Hoe transport adapter The hoe transport adapter is used to transport the hoes.
- Hoe transport adapter fastening The hoe transport adapter fastening consists of screws, washers and spring washers, and attaches the hoe transport adapter to the tiller.
- Folding retainer The folding retainer secures the hoe.
Safety Precautions
Intended Use
The hoe transport adapter is used to transport the hoes. The hoe transport
adapter can be attached to the tiller in order to transport the hoes when the
STIHL ART 012.0 running wheels are installed. The hoe transport adapter must
only be used in combination with the STIHL MH 600.1 tiller.
WARNING
- Failure to use the hoe transport adapter as intended may result in serious or fatal injury to people and damage to property.
- Use the hoe transport adapter as described in this instruction manual.
Requirements for the User
WARNING
- Uninstructed users cannot recognise or evaluate the dangers posed by the hoe transport adapter. This may result in serious or fatal injury to the user or other people.
- Read, understand and keep the instruction manual.
- If passing on the hoe transport adapter to another person: provide them with the instruction manual also.
- Make sure that the user meets the following conditions:
- The user is rested.
- The user is physically, sensorily and mentally capable of operating the hoe transport adapter and working with it. If the user is physically, sensorily or mentally impaired, the hoe transport adapter must only be used under supervision or following instruction by a responsible person.
- The user can recognise and evaluate the dangers posed by the hoe transport adapter.
- The user is of legal age or the user is being trained under supervision in a profession in accordance with national regulations.
- The user has received instruction from a STIHL specialist dealer or a competent person before using the hoe transport adapter for the first time.
- The user is not impaired by alcohol, medicines or drugs.
- If anything is unclear: consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
Clothing and Equipment
WARNING
- The user may come into contact with the hoe transport adapter during assembly or when working. This may result in serious injury to the user.
- Wear work gloves made from resistant material.
- Wear protective boots with steel caps.
- Wear long trousers made from resistant material.
- The user may come into contact with the hoe transport adapter during cleaning or maintenance. This may result in injury to the user.

Work Area and Surroundings
WARNING
- Bystanding people, children and animals cannot recognise or evaluate the dangers posed by the hoe transport adapter. This may result in serious injury to bystanding people, children and animals.
- Keep bystanding people, children and animals out of the work area.
- Do not leave the hoe transport adapter unattended.
- Make sure that children cannot play with the hoe transport adapter.
Safe Condition
Hoe Transport Adapter
The hoe transport adapter is in safe condition when the following conditions
are met:
- The hoe transport adapter is undamaged.
- The hoe transport adapter is clean.
- The hoe transport adapter is working and has not been modified.
- Genuine STIHL accessories for this hoe transport adapter are attached.
- The accessories are correctly attached.
WARNING
- If not in safe condition, components may no longer operate correctly and safety devices may be disabled. This may result in serous or fatal injury to people.
- Do not use a damaged hoe transport adapter.
- If the hoe transport adapter is dirty: clean the hoe transport adapter.
- Do not modify the hoe transport adapter.
- Attach genuine STIHL accessories for this hoe transport adapter.
- Attach the hoe transport adapter as described in this instruction manual.
- If anything is unclear: consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
Working
WARNING
- In certain situations, the user may no longer be able to concentrate on their work. This may result in the user stumbling, falling and becom‐ing seriously injured.
- Work calmly and carefully.
- Ensure that you keep your feet and legs far enough away from the tiller and the hoe transport adapter.
- If the light and visibility conditions are poor: do not use the hoe transport adapter.
- Watch out for obstacles.
- If signs of fatigue occur: take a break.
- If the hoe transport adapter changes or starts to behave differently when working, it may not be in safe condition. This may result in serious injury to people and damage to property.
- Stop working, stop the engine and consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
Transporting
WARNING
- The tiller with the hoe transport adapter attached may tip over or move during trans‐port. This may result in injury to people and damage to property.
- Secure the tiller with lashing straps, belts or a net so it cannot tip over and move.
Storing
- Children cannot recognise or evaluate the dangers posed by the hoe transport adapter. There is a risk of serious injury to children.
- Keep the hoe transport adapter out of reach of children.
Cleaning, Maintenance and Repair
WARNING
- Abrasive cleaning agents and using sharp objects for cleaning may result in damage to the hoe transport adapter. If the hoe transport adapter is not cleaned correctly, components may no longer operate correctly and safety devices may be disabled. This may result in serious injury to people.
- Clean the hoe transport adapter as described in this instruction manual.
- If the hoe transport adapter is not maintained or repaired correctly, components may no longer operate correctly and safety devices may be disabled. This may result in serious or fatal injury to people.
- Do not maintain or repair the hoe transport adapter yourself.
Preparing the Hoe Transport Adapter for Operation
- If the hoe transport adapter needs to be maintained or repaired: consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
Preparing the Hoe Transport Adapter for Operation
- The following steps must be performed before commencing work:
- Make sure that the following components are in safe condition:
- Hoe transport adapter, 4.5.1.
- Clean the hoe transport adapter, 10.1.
- Attach the hoe transport adapter, 6.1.
- If the steps cannot be performed: do not use the hoe transport adapter and consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
Attaching and Removing the Hoe Transport Adapter
WARNING
- The tiller may tip over or move when attaching the hoe transport adapter. This may result in injury to people and damage to property.
- Stop the engine.
- Place the tiller on a level surface.
- Hold hoe transport adapter (1) against the mount (2) so the bores align.
- Fit spring washers (3) and washers (4) on screws (5).
- Screw in screws (5) into mount (2). The hoe transport adapter (1) is firmly attached to the tiller.
Removing the Hoe Transport Adapter
WARNING
- The tiller may tip over or move when removing the hoe transport adapter. This may result in injury to people and damage to property.
- Stop the engine.
- Place the tiller on a level surface.
- Unscrew screws (1) and remove.
- Remove hoe transport adapter (2), spring washers (3) and washers (4).
Transporting the Hoes
Attaching the Hoes
- Stop the engine.
- Place the tiller on a level surface.
- Attach the running wheels.
- Place hoes (1) on hoe transport adapter (2) so the bores align.
- Push folding retainers (3) through the bores and close the securing clips.
- Place the front wheel in the operating position.
Transporting the Hoes
WARNING
- The hoe transport adapter must only be used to transport the hoes. The hoes must be secured using the folding retainers provided for this purpose. If the hoes are not properly secured, they may come loose from the hoe transport adapter. This may result in injury to people and damage to property.
- Start the engine.
- Engage self-propulsion.
- Guide the tiller forwards slowly and in a controlled manner.
Removing the Hoes
- Stop the engine.
- Place the tiller on a level surface.
- Pull out the folding retainers.
- Remove the hoes.
- Push the folding retainers through the bores on the hoe transport adapter. The folding retainers are kept in place.

- Stop the engine.
- Remove the hoe transport adapter.
Storing
Storing the Hoe Transport Adapter
- Stop the engine.
- Remove the hoe transport adapter.
- Store the hoe transport adapter in accordance with the following conditions:
- The hoe transport adapter is out of the reach of children.
- The hoe transport adapter is clean and dry.
Cleaning
Cleaning the Hoe Transport Adapter
- Stop the engine.
- Remove the hoe transport adapter.
- Clean the hoe transport adapter with a damp cloth or STIHL resin solvent.
Maintenance and Repairs
Maintaining and Repairing the Hoe Transport Adapter
The hoe transport adapter does not need to be maintained and cannot be
repaired.
- If the hoe transport adapter is defective or damaged: have the hoe transport adapter replaced by a STIHL specialist dealer.
Troubleshooting

specialist dealer. Improper disposal may be harmful to health and pollute the
environment.
- Take STIHL products including packaging to a suitable collection point for recycling in accordance with local regulations.
- Do not dispose of the product with domestic waste.
