Batcave Magnetic Storage Transport Crate
Product Information: Magnetic Storage Transport Crate
The Magnetic Storage Transport Crate is a sturdy and durable storage solution for transporting and storing magnetized models. The crate is designed to hold multiple models securely in place with the help of magnets, making it easy to carry them from one place to another without any damage. The crate comes with a Perspex front that can be easily removed, and a lid that allows multiple units to safely stack on top of each other.
Product Usage Instructions
Notes before assembling:
It is recommended to glue the product together for added sturdiness. The joints are tight and will need a bit of force toget them inserted. A gentle tap with a hammer should seat the joints nicely.
Assembly Instructions – Lid
- Insert the little wedges into the holes as shown in the picture to keep the Perspex front in place.
- Put glue as pictured.
- Push the wedges into the holes.
- Start with one side of the crate and get it seated home. Then repeat the other three sides (three large, and then one small one along the front) as pictured.
- You will now have the main part of the crate and the lid assembled.
Draw a line of glue along the inside (marked
“IN”) of one of the sides, as shown. These holes will meet up with the
protrusions along one side of the lid section. Starting from one side, seat
one hole home, and then gently tap along with a hammer to get everything
fitting snugly.
For the rest of the sides, put glue along the line of holes and then on the
edge that will meet up with an existing one. In the below images, we’re
working clockwise – the last piece will need glue along both edges. Gently
seat all with a hammer.
These little wedges will keep the Perspex front in place. Put glue as pictured, then push in to the holes.
Assembly Instructions – Main Crate
In the same way as the lid, start with one side, and get it seated home. Then repeat the other 3 sides (3 large, and then 1 small one along the front) as pictured. You’ll now have the main part of the crate and the lid assembled.
Next the drawer slides will be put in. Because only the glue will be holding
this in place, be quite generous with applying it to every rung.
Using the jig to hold everything in place, place the slides in to the box as
pictured, ensuring not to stick the jig in place. The back of the slides
should butt up against the back of the box. The jig will keep it the right
amount from the front as well as ensure the space between the slides are
correct.
You may carefully put a heavy book or something on top of this to ensure a
good bond.
Once dry, flip it over and do the other side.
Putting magnets on model bases
You need to put a magnet on the base of each magnet; 5x2mm is recommended, and
on larger models you can put more than one.
- Put a bit of superglue on the base
- Now put a blob of 2-part epoxy (Green Stuff or equivalent from the hardware store)
- Put another bit of superglue on
- Put the magnet on top of this
- Now, flip the model over, and on a flat surface press the model down and move it to and fro a bit, this will ensure it’s seated well and flush with the bottom of the base. Sometimes the superglue gets on the surface, so make sure it’s a surface you can get messy.
- Completed magnetized model
Congratulations! You have now completed magnetizing your models and can safely store and transport them in the Magnetic Storage Transport Crate.
