2_1 Safety
Power on / Power down To power on or power down the OPEN, connect or
disconnect the cable connected to power plug.
Lithium battery The OPEN is fitted with a lithium battery which is not
accessible to the user. Only a qualified technician may be authorized to open
the unit and change this component. For Switzerland annex 2.15 of SR 814.81
applies for batteries.
⚠ Scrapping by heating, burning, punching, or crushing the battery may cause explosion. Maintaining a battery in a very high environment temperature may cause explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas. A battery subject to extremely low air pressure may cause explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
SAM, µSD connectors They are operator accessible parts. This is an Electrostatic (ESD) sensitive area and ESD precautions must be taken when fitting it as a minimum, the operator should be “Electrostatically Discharged” via his/her hand to a suitable safe metallic earthing point prior to opening this area.
Connections to external equipment and circuits All external circuits and equipment connected to the OPEN Reader should be Safety Extra-Low Voltage circuits according to clause 2.2 of Standards IEC60950-1:2013 Edition 2.2 and EN60950-1:2006 +A11/2009 + A1/2010 + A12/2011 + A2:2013.
Operating conditions:
Temperature -20°C to +70°C (Consumer version); -20°C to +55°C (Automotive and
Railway version)
2_2 Security of your terminal
Your device fulfils current applicable PCI PTS security requirements. Upon receipt of your terminal, you should check for signs of tampering of the equipment. It is strongly advised that these checks are performed regularly after receipt. You should check, for example, that the keypad is firmly in place; that there is no evidence of unusual wires that have been connected to any ports on your terminal or associated equipment, the chip card reader, or any other part of your terminal. Such checks would provide warning of any unauthorized modifications to your terminal, and other suspicious behaviour of individuals that have access to your terminal. Your terminal detects any “tampered state”. In this state the terminal will repeatedly flash the message” Alert Irruption!” and further use of the terminal will not be possible. If you observe the “Alert Irruption!” message, you should contact the terminal helpdesk immediately. You are strongly advised to ensure that privileged access to your terminal is only granted to staff that have been independently verified as being trustworthy. The terminal must never be put in or left at a location where it could be stolen or replaced by another device.

2_5 IC statements
Under Industry Canada regulations, this radio transmitter may only operate using an antenna of a type and maximum (or lesser) gain approved for the transmitter by Industry Canada. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotopically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) is not more than that necessary for successful communication. “This device complies with Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.
