  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it.

  • The mini-pans should be cleaned in warm soapy water. The grill stone must only be cleaned under running water. For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care.

  • The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

  • This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as
    – in staff kitchens in shops, offices, and other similar working environments,
    – in agricultural working environments,
    – by customers in hotels, motels, etc. and similar accommodation,
    – in bed-and-breakfast type environments.

  • This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or who lack experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.

  • Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age.

  • The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times.
Caution: Keep children away from any packaging materials– these are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.

  • The surfaces of the appliance, the grill stone and mini-pans become hot during use and will remain so for some time afterward. Caution: There is a danger of burns.

  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.

  • Caution: Do not operate the appliance outdoors.

  • Always remove the plug from the wall socket
    – after use,
    – in case of any malfunction, and
    – before cleaning the appliance.

  • When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.

  • No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.

Applications
This appliance is an electric raclette grill, suitable for low-fat grilling of meat, fish and vegetables and for cheese ‘au gratin’. Any use other than that described in these instructions must be considered improper and may lead to personal injury or material damage.
Before first use

  • Remove any packing materials completely.
  • Before using the grill for the first time, clean the grill stone and mini-pans with a damp cloth.
  • Heat up the appliance with the grill stone and mini-pans for about 10 minutes, without any food, to eliminate the smell typically encountered when first switching on a grill (a small amount of smoke may be noticeable). For that reason, adequate ventilation should be ensured by opening windows or balcony doors.
  • Clean the appliance afterward as described in Cleaning and care.

Grill stone

  • Fit the stone, with the smooth side up, on the appliance.
  • Caution: Avoid placing a cold stone onto a hot element.
  • The stone can be used for cooking vegetables, sliced meat or fish, etc. as required.
  • This stone is entirely natural material. Small cracks resulting from natural expansion and contraction during heating and cooling, as well as a change to a darker color are normal and have no detrimental effects.
  • Do not place any frozen food or items containing vinegar (such as pickled gherkins or mustard) on the stone.

Variable thermostat and indicator light

  • The thermostat serves to regulate the temperature between MIN and MAX.

  • The indicator light shows the current heating status:
Heating on = indicator light on
Heating off = indicator light off

  • After use, return the thermostat to its lowest setting and unplug the appliance from the mains supply.

Operation

Hint: For the very best results, meat should be taken from the refrigerator about half an hour before grilling, covered, and left to stand.

  • Place the grill stone on the unit.
  • Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and turn the thermostat all the way to the right.
  • Let the appliance preheat for about 10 minutes to reach the required temperature. However, the grill stone requires a pre-heating time of around 25 minutes.
  • Place the food to be cooked on the stone.
  • Put the raclette cheese into the mini-pans. Place the mini-pans in the appliance, under the heating element, and leave them until the cheese has melted.
  • Warning: Do not place empty mini-pans in the appliance, while it is switched on.
  • When cooking is finished, turn the thermostat all the way to the left and unplug the appliance from the mains.

How to prepare raclette cheese
Use about 200 to 300 grams of cheese per person. Cut the cheese into slices of about 3 to 5 mm thickness and put them into the mini-pans. It is preferable to use original raclette cheese. Any other fast-melting cheese, however, is also suitable.
Practical hints

  • Frozen food should always be properly thawed before it is cooked.
  • To avoid damage to the coating of the mini-pans, use only non-abrasive utensils.
  • When grilling larger amounts of food, accumulated fat should be carefully removed from time to time, using suitable kitchen towels or similar. Cleaning and care
  • Before cleaning the appliance, always make sure that the plug has been removed from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down.
  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
  • Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
  • Wipe the outer surfaces of the grill with a clean damp cloth.
  • Remove the pans once they have cooled down, and rinse in a little hot water. If necessary, some mild detergent may be used. Wipe thoroughly dry again with a soft cloth.
  • Before the stone is removed for cleaning, ensure it has cooled down completely. Clean the stone with a synthetic sponge under running water without detergent. Wipe thoroughly and dry afterward with a soft cloth. Do not immerse the stone in water.
