2. BEFORE STARTING

  • Check that the security protocol of the modem/router is set at “WPA”/”WPA2”. The “WEP” protocol is not supported by the camera, because it is not reliable enough.
  • Check that the 2.4G (2.4 GHz) wireless connection is active on the modem. The 5G (5 GHz) connection is not currently supported.
  • Insert the microSD memory card only after the camera has been synchronised.
  • The microSD memory card must be formatted in the “FAT32” mode, its capacity cannot exceed 128 GB and it must be category 6 or higher.

3. INSTALLATION

3.2 INSTALLATION OF THE CAMERA

Connect the “Security” camera to the electrical current. It will make a rotational movement, followed by a pair of acoustic signals at regular intervals of approximately 15 seconds, to confirm that the synchronisation mode with the App has been activated. Open the “Smart Life®” App and follow the instructions on the screen. Attention: Once the camera recognises the QR code, it will make a sharper sound than the earlier signals.
FUNCTIONS AND USE OF THE “SMART LIFE®” APPLICATION (DEPENDS ON THE VERSION INSTALLED)

A. “Home” This page is for managing devices connected to the “Smart Life®” application. To add a new device to the list, press the “+” in the upper-right portion. Press the key on the camera (if the factory settings have been maintained: “Superior Smart Security iCM003”) to access the main operating page. The icon in the upper right (3 dots) can be used to open the settings page and, for example, to modify the name of the device, permit sharing with other users, activate the “alarm” function (listed on the menu as “Detection Alarm Settings”) or remove the camera from the account. Attention: The internet connection (wireless or cable) must be active to access the camera with the App. If the modem/router is turned off, then Smart devices cannot be controlled.

B. “Me” To access the configuration section, press the icon on the menu bar to the bottom-right. Once inside, press “Home Management” to add, modify or remove the settings (“Homes”) into which the account can be divided for more effective management of devices. Control of the “Home” can also be shared with other users (“Home Members” or “Members”). An administrator of the “Home” can add or remove devices, scenarios or members, or delete a home (“Delete Home”).

3.3 CONNECT YOUR “SECURITY” CAMERA TO THE “SMART LIFE®” ACCOUNT

A. Rapid mode (recommended) Connect the “Security” camera to the electrical current using the power supply found in the package. Open the “Smart Life®” application and, after accessing it with the proper credentials, press the “+” in the upper right and/or press “Add Device”. Select “Camera & Lock” from the left column and then, from the list that opens up, press “Smart Camera (Wi- Fi)” (even if it is connected via cable).
On the new screen press the key “Next” and then select the network for the connection, entering the access credentials and confirming. Continue following the instructions on the screen until a QR code appears.
If the camera is not already making the acoustic signals described under point “3.2 Installation of the Camera”, then press and hold the “RESET” key (see the “Product Overview” on page 2) until you hear one. The camera will begin to move (ATTENTION: there may be a wait of up to 30 seconds before this happens). If it does not move, then check to see that the power supply is functioning properly and repeat the steps.
As soon as the “Security” camera has returned to the original position, it will give off a new acoustic signal. Position the QR code shown on the screen in front of the lens (at a distance of roughly 15-20 cm), until the camera makes a higher-pitched signal. Press the “I Heard a Prompt” key and wait for the connection to be completed (10-60 seconds).
If the synchronisation does not take place correctly, repeat the procedure.
B. Alternative modes (EZ/Cable) B.1 EZ Mode If the quick setup fails more than once, you can try the EZ mode. From the “Home” page, press the “+” at the top- right, and/or “Add Device” in the centre of the screen. Select “Camera & Lock” from the left column and, from the list that opens, “Smart Camera (Wi-Fi)”. In the new screen, click on “QR Code” in the upper-right corner, then on “Wi-Fi Mode” and “Next step”. Check that the camera is making the acoustic signals described under point “3.2 Installation of the Camera” before pressing “EZ Mode”. (ATTENTION: If the device does not make any sound, repeat the reset procedure (using the “RESET” button) indicated in point “A”, before proceeding). Click on “Next”, wait for the configuration to be completed successfully and press “Finish”. Should you encounter difficulties even with the alternative modes, contact “Superior Electronics” support at the e-mail address: [email protected]

B.2 Cable Mode As an alternative, should a cable connection (Ethernet) be available, press the “+” at the top-right, and/or “Add Device” in the centre of the screen. Select “Camera & Lock” from the left column and “Smart Camera (Wi-Fi)” from the list that opens. In the new screen, click on “QR Code” in the upper-right corner, then on “Cable”. Check that the camera is making the acoustic signals described under point “3.2 Installation of the Camera” before pressing “Next”. (ATTENTION: If the device does not make any sound, repeat the reset procedure (using the “RESET” button) indicated under point “A” before proceeding). Wait for the configuration to be completed successfully and then press “Finish”. Should you encounter difficulties even with the alternative modes, contact “Superior Electronics” support at the e-mail address: [email protected]

4. FUNCTIONS

LIVE VIDEO Once the camera has been connected, simply click on its icon in the “Smart Life®” application to access live video viewing, which is available in both high definition (HD) and the standard format (SD).
RECORDING By pressing the button with the shape of a video camera inside the App, videos are recorded and saved on your smartphone (in this case it will be necessary to accept the notification that will appear on the screen, allowing the App to access the gallery). For photos, on the other hand, press the camera button to memorise photos taken by the “Security” camera on your smartphone. To view the images recorded in this way, simply press the arrows in the lower-right corner to open the complete menu and then click “Gallery”.
To view the videos saved on the microSD card, on the other hand, select the “Playback” button from the complete menu. To return to live video, press the arrow at the top-left.
MOVEMENT It is possible to move the camera’s field of vision manually, using the cursor of the “Direction” section, which is reached by pressing the arrows in the lower right, or the “Motion Tracking” function of the App’s “Features” menu can be used to change the viewing field automatically.
MICROPHONE The microphone function can be activated by pressing the microphone icon. Using the smartphone as a receiver, the voice will be produced by the “Security” camera.
NIGHT MODE The night mode is activated/deactivated automatically, to ensure optimal vision of the surrounding environment at all times, unless a different selection is made in the “Basic Settings” (“Nightvision Mode”). If a movement is detected in the night mode, and the setting “Motion Detection” is activated, then the LEDs go on to light the area in question, after which they can be turned off manually from the App by pressing the arrows to the lower- right and then the “Light” icon on the “Features” menu. They switch off automatically after some minutes.

ALARM When the “Motion Detection” function on the complete menu of the App is activated, the “Security” camera uses its sensors to notify the user’s smartphone that a movement has been detected inside the viewing field. The “Security iCM003” camera has a built-in siren which is activated by pressing the icon in the upper-right (3 dots), followed by “Detection Alarm Settings”, and finally “Trigger Siren”. The acoustic alarm goes off every time a motion is detected, regardless of the status of the “Motion Detection” function (which must be activated for notifications to be received on the user’s smartphone).

ONVIF The “Security” camera supports the “ONVIF” protocol and, through this, can be connected to a DVR/NVR that is in turn compatible. This connection can be activated by pressing the icon at the top right (3 dots), then “Onvif” and, subsequently, “Onvif Switch”. Then select “Reset Password” to enter the desired security word. This will be entered in the dedicated section of the DVR/NVR together with the IP address indicated on the “Smart Life®” App, if it is not automatically recognized by the recorder.

5. SAFETY AND SECURITY INFORMATION

  • Keep the “Security” camera from coming into contact with, or being in the vicinity of, open flames or electrical discharges. The ranges of humidity and temperature it supports are, respectively: 0% ~ 90% RH ; -10°C ~ +60°C
  • Though the “Security” camera is designed and produced to guarantee the safety and security of the user, and of environment in which it is used, damage may still occur in situations that fall outside of normal use.
  • It is recommended that only very secure passwords be used (at least 8 alphanumerical characters, of which at least one should be a capital letter, one a number, and one a symbol).
  • Firmware updates must not be interrupted, or the camera could be damaged.

6. F.A.Q

The “Security” camera will not connect with the network.

Check that the camera is installed in a location where wireless reception is good. Place your smartphone near the camera to test the strength of the signal. As an alternative, a cable connection can always be used.

What has to be done to reset the camera?

Press and hold the “RESET” button until the camera makes an acoustic signal and does a complete rotational movement. The device will begin to give off 2 consecutive acoustic signals at regular intervals, and the synchronisation mode will be activated.

The live-video viewing breaks up.

1. If the live-video viewing breaks up or is disturbed, then the steps indicated below should be followed: A.log out of the App, log in again, and then refresh the smartphone screen B.remove the camera from the App and modify the installation position to avoid direct sunlight on the lens C. connect the camera again and see if the live video appears correctly 2. If live video appears correctly, but problems occur during the playing of recorded videos, then it might be necessary to replace the memory card in the camera with one of better quality. 3. When the “HD” video mode is set, and the camera is focused on an environment with a lot of different colours or moving objects, it is easy for the live-video viewing to become corrupted. To avoid this, switch to the “SD” video mode.

Even when the alarm function is on, I do not receive any push notifications.

This could depend on the smartphone settings: check them to ensure that push notifications are enabled.

No sound comes from the App during the playing of live/recorded videos.

The first thing to do is to check that your smartphone is not on silent mode and that the “Media” reproduction volume is set at the maximum level. Also check the App to make sure that sound reproduction is enabled.

How many people can access my camera and view through it?

The administrator can authorise up to 15 different users to access a given camera. The user who first connected the camera to the system is the administrator.

Why are some smartphones not able to show live/recorded video?

The minimum system requirements to use the camera are version 6.0 for Android® and 11.0 for iOS®.
