Control lamp:
The blue light shines if the thermostat is set in. If the desired temperature
is reached the lamp goes off and on.
Thermostat
The unit has 2 thermostats. The left thermostat is adjusted to a plate
temperature of 250°C. The right thermostat is adjusted to a plate temperature
of 300°C. This corresponds to an all around heat in the grill room of 150°C.
With the thermostat the temperature of the grill plate can be adjusted. The
Numbers on the thermostat knob have following meaning:
100°C = thermostat switched on
150°C – 200°C = keeping warm
200°C – 225°C = grilling with low temperature ( for fish etc.)
225°C – 275°C = grilling on medium temperature (for chicken etc.)
300°C = grilling on max. temperature
Rack
Ready grilled meat or jacket potatoes can be kept warm on this surface with
open lid; it can also be used to crisp white bread etc. The temperature in
this area, when the lid is closed and the thermostat is set to max, is around
200°C.
Thermometer
The thermometer shows the all-around heat, but not the temperature on the
plates.
Grill preparations
If the device is used for the first time, all parts should be wiped with a
damp cloth. Then the device should be preheated for about 15 minutes with the
lid closed at maximum temperature to burn off possible residues of production.
This may cause some smoke. Important: The enameled die-cast plates must be
inserted correctly! Arrows must point to the front!
Left grill plate
right grill plate (power grill plate)
The grease drip trays on the left and right side as well as the internal reflectors, must be inserted so that the surface will not get damaged. The grill plates must not be covered with aluminum foil, otherwise this could cause overheating. To prevent damage, do not cut on the grill plates! The heating rods glow differently due to technical reasons.
Grilling
Oil the grill plates slightly before usage. This makes it easier to turn the
food (eg. sunflower oil – virgin oils must not be used!). The best results are
obtained when the lid is closed, as it hereby created an all-around heat. If
the lid is closed the temperature increases by around 30°C. This reduces
energy consumption! The device can be operated with left side only, right side
only or both sides together. You can pre-grill on the left plate, for example,
and finish grilling on the power plate with 300°C. Please make sure that there
is not too much fat on the plates or in the drip tray. Heavily soiled items
can ignite! For grill suggestions please refer to the following recipe ideas.
Grill plate and power plate
At maximum temperature setting and closed lid following temperatures are
obtained on the plates:
- Grill plate left: 250°C
- Power plate right: 300°C
You can grill a steak on the left plate at 220°C for 4 minutes per side and finish grilling on the right power plate with 1 minute per side. (The times are approximate and subject of meat, thickness and quality.)
