BoxPower is a company that provides clean, reliable, and affordable energy to rural consumers. BoxPower’s ecosystem of software and hardware solutions optimize the performance and accelerate the deployment of solar plus storage microgrids. BoxPower’s containerized microgrid technology was initially funded by the National Science Foundation and Environmental Protection Agency as a Princeton University research project in 2011. After a series of grant-funded pilot projects, BoxPower moved to commercialize and incorporated in 2016. BoxPower is a venture-backed company headquartered in Grass Valley, California.

Product Usage

To use BoxPower’s solar plus storage microgrid system, follow these steps:

  2. BoxPower will conduct an energy audit to determine the optimal system design for your location.
  3. BoxPower will provide a turnkey solution for engineering, construction, and management services.

Our Story
The National Science Foundation and Environmental Protection Agency initially funded the development of BoxPower’s containerized microgrid technology as a Princeton University Research Project in 2011. After a series of grant-funded pilot projects, BoxPower moved to commercialize, incorporating in 2016. BoxPower is a venture-backed company headquartered in Grass Valley, California. BoxPower first focused on rapidly deploying microgrids for disaster relief in the Caribbean and has since expanded to providing affordable energy resilience in the United States for rural investor-owned utility customers, indigenous communities, critical facilities, telecommunications infrastructure, and EV chargers. As an impactdriven company, BoxPower’s 30+ solar and storage deployments are improving over 4,300 lives and offsetting over 37 million pounds of carbon dioxide.

Angelo Campus
CEO / Founder
Angelo Campus has spent over 10 years working on BoxPower Inc. and its precursor research projects. Originally the lead designer, Angelo has held almost every role at BoxPower and now leads sales and forward-looking technology. Angelo is a 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 listmaker, 2019 Halcyon Fellow, 2019 GSBI Fellow, DRK Entrepreneur, 2017 Echoing Green Climate Fellow, and 2017 Princeton Tiger Entrepreneur Award winner. Angelo graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University in 2016, where he designed an independent major combining civil engineering and anthropology, where he focused on renewable energy technologies and business models for rural electrification.

Michele Nesbit CTO I Co-Founder
Michele Nesbit was born and raised in Grass Valley, California. After graduating with honors from UC Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science & Engineering, Michele returned home in 2012 to break into the renewable energy storage industry as an off-grid system designer. She quickly transitioned into the role of Director of Operations for two solar companies and gained extensive practical knowledge in construction solar, energy storage, and operational managennent. In 2020, Michele obtained her California Class A Engineering Construction License, and is the current RMO for BoxPower’s license. She is a 2019 Halcyon Fellow and 2020 Global Good Fund Fellow.

Anderson Barkow CFO I Co-Founder
Anderson Barkow co-founded BoxPower after spending three years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Corporate and Investrnent Bank, where he underwrote debt products and managed risk to Fortune 500 technology companies. He brings experience in impact-focused ventures from experiences at RSF Social Finance and Wakabi Boda Solutions, an SMS based app seeking to solve last-mile distribution in Uganda. He is a 2022 CELI Fellow, 2019 Halcyon Fellow, DRK Entrepreneur, 2019 GSBI Fellow, and 2019 Wild Gift Fellow. Anderson graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Finance from Santa Clara University.
