RIAS Smart Life App

Product Information

The RIAS range hood is a kitchen appliance that can be connected with the Smart Life app via Wi-Fi for remote control access. The Smart Life app can be downloaded on Android or iPhone devices from the Google Play store or Apple App store.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Download the Smart Life app on your Android or iPhone device.
  2. After creating an account, log in to the Smart Life app.
  3. Click on “Add Device” to pair your RIAS range hood with the Smart Life app.
  4. Select “Kitchen appliances” from the device menu and then click on “Kitchen Hood.”
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your RIAS range hood to your network.
  6. Press and hold down button D (power button) on your RIAS range hood for 3-5 seconds to enter pairing mode.
  7. Your RIAS range hood should be picked up by the Smart Life app, and you can finalize the connection.
  8. If wireless pairing is not being detected, you can use the QR code provided for manual pairing.
  9. If the EZ mode fails, you may be prompted for a secondary Wi-Fi connection request and manual unit selection pairing via Bluetooth.
  10. Your RIAS range hood is now paired with the Smart Life app, and you can remotely control it via the app’s user interface controls.

Note: Properly pairing your unit with the Smart Life app is necessary for Amazon Alexa or Google Home to pick up the unit for smart hub voice controls.

Download & Connect the Smart Life App

  1. Your must have an Android based phone or iPhone to use this App.

  2. Search “Smart Life” in the Google Play store or Apple App store.

  3. You can also scan the below QR codes to be linked to the correct download.

  4. When you log into the Smart Life app for the first time, you’ll need to create an account (if you have an account, skip this step). After entering your RIAS range hood unit into pairing mode (hold power 3-5 seconds), Smart Life may automatically pick up the unit as a discovered device on the home menu. If not, please follow the below steps.

  5. After creating an account successfully, follow the proceeding steps to sync your RIAS range hood to the Smart Life app device roster (the operating procedures of Android and Apple IOS are extremely similar).

  6. Login to your Smart Life Account

  7. Once logged in, click “Add Device”

  8. Once on the device menu, select “Kitchen appliances”.

  9. After clicking the kitchen appliances option, click “Kitchen Hood”

  10. After clicking the kitchen hood option you will be taken to the WiFi connection screen.
    Login to your network.

  11. Make sure your RIAS range hood unit has entered pairing mode FIRST before attempting (steps on next page.)
    After logging into your network, you will be taken to the net pairing screen. Please click “EZ Mode” in the top right for the quickest pairing option.

  12. Enter pairing mode:
    Press and hold down button D (power button) on your RIAS range hood for 3-5 seconds which will prompt the unit to enter pairing mode. Your will know your unit is in paring mode if the dual lights on the LED display start to blink continuously after holding down button F for the required timeframe.

  13. After entering paring mode your unit should be picked up by your Smart Life app (depending on the manual or automated pairing process being displayed on the app.)

  14. If the pairing has been
    initiated correctly, and your RIAS range hood unit has been detected by Smart Life, you should be able to finalize the connection between the app and your RIAS range hood unit.

  15. *SKIP STEP IF EZ MODE PAIRING WORKED Your can also use the QR code below for a manual pairing option if the wireless pairing is not being detected (when on the
    prompted pairing screen within Smart Life.)

  16. SKIP STEP IF EZ MODE PAIRING WORKED You may be prompted for a secondary WiFi connection request, and a manual unit selection pairing (via Bluetooth) if the EZ mode failed and 2-way AP mode pairing is initiated.

  17. You now have access to remotely control your RIAS range hood via the Smart Life app user interface controls.
    You MUST have your unit properly paired with the Smart Life app in order for Amazon Alexa or Google Home to pick up the unit for smart hub voice controls.

  18. Pre-Condition:

    • You must have internet access and your device connected to the same Wi-Fi network (or have your RIAS rangehood connected to the Smart Life app, which is synced to the same network, depending on RIAS range
      hood model.)

    • You must have your Echo device connected to the same network &

    • preconditioned for proper setup, as advised by your specific device during general setup.

    • You must download the Amazon Alexa app on your mobile device that controls the amazon Echo device.

    • You must have your Amazon account ready to go.

    • Please make sure to change your device’s name within the Smart Life app so that “Echo” may be able to recognize it.

    • Smart Life account will need to be linked to Alexa for this to properly function.

  19. Part 1: Connect to the Amazon Alexa app & Sync Smart Life account.

  20. Open the Amazon Alexa app and click “more” in the bottom right corner.

  21. Now click “Skills & Games” which appears within the available on-screen menu.

  22.  Once taken to the next step select “Discover” and click the search icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

  23. Search for “Smart Life” in the search box, and select the Smart Life app option that appears within the results section.

  24. On the next screen, click “Enable to use” (depending on the operating system/app), then proceed to the next step.

  25. Click on the “Agree and Link” button that appears.

  26. When your Smart Life account has been successfully linked and the prompt has been displayed confirming so, please click the “Close” button.

  27. If a “Discover Devices” page appears, simply click cancel and go to the next step.

  28. Part 2: Connect to Amazon Alexa app & Sync Smart Life account.

    • You may appear on a page that shows “Launch” or “Settings” for Smart Life within the Amazon Alexa app, which will require you to click “Launch”. Otherwise please click the devices option at the bottom of the Amazon Alexa app user interface screen.

    • When taken to the next step, a screen showing discovered devices
      should be in view. Click “View” to go to the next required step.

    • Click on “Range Hood” or whichever device name appears for your RIAS range hoods, then proceed to the next step.

    • Now that your RIAS range hood & Smart Life account have been linked successfully to the Amazon Alexa app, you’ll have full access to the integrated voice control features.

Voice Control Commands / Formats:

  • “ OK Alexa, turn on .
  • “ OK Alexa, turn off .
  • “ OK Alexa, set low .
  • “ OK Alexa, set high .
  • Ex.: OK, Alexa, turn on “ Range Hood ”
  • Ex.: OK, Alexa, turn off “ Range Hood ”
  • Ex.: OK, Alexa, set “ Range Hood ” low .
  • Ex.: OK, Alexa, set “ Range Hood ” high .

Pre-Condition:

  • You must have internet access and your device connected to the same Wi-Fi network (or have your RIAS rangehood connected to the Smart Life app, which is synced to the same network, depending on RIAS range hood model.)
  • You must have your Google Home device, or Android phone with google Assistant, connected to the same network.
  • Precondition the Google device for proper setup, as advised by your specific device during general setup.
  • You must download the newest version of the Google Home app, and/or the Google app (android only) that controls the Google device you plan to use for voice control features.
  • You must have your Google account ready to go.
  • You must select “English US” as the language of the phone or smart device.
  • Smart Life account will need to be linked to Google Home for this to properly function.

22) Part 1: Connect to Google Home app & Sync Smart Life account.

  1. Open the Google Home app and click the “ + ” button in the top left corner.
  2. Now click “Setup Device” which appears within the available on-screen menu.
  3. On this page please click “Works with Google” which will allow you to proceed to the next step.
  4. Search for “Smart Life” in the search box, and select the Smart Life app icon that appears within the results section.
  5. A prompt stating “Linking your Smart Life account” should appear, and once loaded, will take you to the next step.
  6. Click on the “Agree and Link” button that appears.
  7. When your Smart Life account has been successfully linked, the Google Home main page will show the name of the added device retrieved from your Smart Life app synced devices. Sometimes the option will say “Range
    Hood”, though this is dependent on prior settings you may have inputted, or by RIAS range hood model.

Part 2: Connect to Google Home app & Sync Smart Life account.

  • Discovered devices on Google Home can only show what has been previously synced successfully with the Smart Life app.
  • You should be able to select the option that is now available on your Google Home main page.
  • Congratulations, you can now use Google Home voice control features to remotely control your RIAS range hood.

Voice Control Commands / Formats:

  • “ OK Google, turn on .
  • “ OK Google, turn off .
  • “ OK Google, set low .
  • “ OK Google, set high .
  • Ex.: OK, Google, turn on “ Range Hood ”
  • Ex.: OK, Google, turn off “ Range Hood ”
  • Ex.: OK, Google, set “ Range Hood ” low.
  • Ex.: OK, Google, set “ Range Hood ” high.
