IMPORTANT SAFETY & CARE

• Pitching your tent
• Avoid camping near places prone to tloods, rockslides, thunder, snow-slides or other disasters.
• Do not pitch near an open tire.
• Secure the floor and tly straps with the ropes and stakes provided.
• Check the guy ropes and pegs ot your tent daily.
• Always check the roof point of the Bell Tent for ripping, tearing and fabric weakness before each camping out.
• Clean your Bell Tent by spraying and washing with our specialist cleaning formulas only.
• The use of third-party solutions on fabrics will void your warranty. You can find reputable suppliers of tabric protection on our website.
• Always leave your tent to dry in the sun betore packing away. We recommend packing away around midday to ensure that the tent has thoroughly dried out all morning moisture. Do not pack your
• tent away in the rain. It your tent is wet when packing away, get it back out and pitched within 12hours. We advise a trial set-up betore using your tent tor the tirst time.
• Never use your tent in adverse weather conditions.
• Only use Bell Tents in good weather conditions.
• Those who use Bell Tents for commercial use should seek the correct insurance and legal advice. Bell Tent Village trading as Lux & Lav LTD cannot be held liable for any damages caused by the use of our products. This limitation of liability will include persons, premises, land, furniture and turnishings of businesses, corporations and individuals who choose to use our Bell Tent in a commercial environment or setting. Parties must undertake the correct risk assessments and satety procedures. A bell Tent is not a permanent structure and should not be left unattended for long periods. Our products should only be used with the correct risk assessments and insurances.
• Our Fire Retardant tents are treated with non-harmtul chemicals. However, such chemicals may cause allergic reactions. Users handling our tents should always wash their hands after each handling.
• Children and adults should not put the toabric into contact with the mouth, eyes or open wounds.
• Only adults should erect Bell Tents.
• This product is not a toy.
• This product is only for recreational activities.
• For best use and increased longevity, your Bell Tent should not be left up through the winter it not in use.

Wood Burners

• Bell Tent Village cannot be held liable tor damages caused by wood burners or stoves inside tents. Due to the unpredictability of mother nature, fire and wind combined. Only use wood burners outside your tent clear from the fabric and tent in sate weather conditions. Users ot wood burners should seek operational training and knowledge before use.
• Wood burners can be overheated when incorrectly operated. Such overheating may cause tires and even death!
• Wood burners create hot embers and sparks and burn your fabric or groundsheet.
• Never leave a wood burner or fire unattended or burning through the night.
• Children should not be left alone around a wood burner.
• Please note tire retardant tents are not fireproof. All fabrics can catch tires at high temperatures. Our Fire Retardant tents prevent the rapid spread of tire. Beware of materials inside your tent,
• catching tires and creating an interno.
• Those who choose to operate a wood burner inside their tent shall do so at their own risk with no liability whatsoever to Bell Tent Village trading as Lux & Lav LTD.
• Correctly insert all sets of pegs provided into the ground. The guy ropes are to be used only with the ribbed pegs.
• For XL Bell Tent models we supply two sets of ribbed pegs. The ribbed pegs are for the Guy ropes and the bungee cords. Insert the pin pegs through the eyelet holes on the groundsheet.

SETTING UP YOUR TENT

Never put too much pressure on the zip parts (groundsheet) as this may cause damage to the zips.
The over-tightening ot the guy ropes can cause a pressure build-up.
Ensure that all zips are covered by the overhanging tlaps, as water will leak through the zips and cause floods inside your tent. Incorrect alignment may cause the overhanging tlaps not to cover the zip mechanism.

PACKING UP YOUR TENT

Always ensure that your tent is dry before packing it away.
Always clear away or prevent stains from food and drinks where possible, as fungus and mold may occur.
Immediately clean up spills and liquids

CARING FOR YOUR TENT

ABOUT MOULD AND FUNGUS:
Always thoroughly dry out your tent before packing it, or mold and fungus will grow in the fabric.
Tip – If in doubt, roll your tent out on the floor of a warm room overnight to dry out completely.

WATERPROOFING:
Apply a waterproofing agent sold in our store to prolong the life of the canvas whilst improving the waterproof features. Only the use of our recommended treatments will ensure the validity of your warranty.

PREVENTION OF LEAKAGE:
In extreme weather conditions, and depending on wind direction, Bell Tents may occasionally leak slightly around the zippers positioned at the doors, windows, or groundsheet. You can prevent this by simply reporting problem areas by brushing/spraying an extra waterproofing agent to the fabric on either side of the zippers.

WEATHERING CANVAS BELL TENTS

• Our manufacturing processes have come a long way. Our tents now need little weathering, it any at all. However, we still advise all tents to be tested/ weathered betore planning a camping trip. Do not worry it your tent leaks. It is perfectly normal. Cotton tents need to go through a weathering process to become watertight. It is the same for all bell tents and all canvas tents.
• It the canvas gets wet, the cotton fibers in the weave will shrink. Technically the fibers expand, which causes the gaps between the weave to shrink. The process is referred to as shrinking and being
• knit tightly together, closing any tiny holes in the weave, making the canvas watertight.
• The canvas and the seam need to become watertight through weathering, as the hole the needle makes in the stitching in the seams is larger than the thread. The tiny holes in the seams need to
• expand around to seal the seams. The canvas itself will be the first to weather,
• Usually, in the first couple ot heavy soakings, the seams take longer. Not only does the tent need to get heavily soaked for the weathering process to be effective, but it also needs to dry
• thoroughly (bone dry) between soakings.
• Some bell tents will need a couple of ot weathering procedures before every water inlet has gone.
• Weathering ot the Bell tents should take place betore your camping trip.
• Methods of weathering your Bell Tent:
• The best method for weathering is simply leaving your tent out in mother nature for a few days.
• Nearly all sellers and manufacturers preter this method.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SET UP

The order in which you set up your Bell Tent is vital. Never assume that you may remember the order each time you pitch your tent, and hence carry this manual with you at all times.

Before you start

• Open the carton;
• Unpack the carrier bag and the tent;
• Then lay out the groundsheet.
• With the cotton fly on top, place the groundsheet flat as possible.
• Find the door and rotate the groundsheet.
• Make sure it taces the direction you want.
• Make sure you have the entrance tacing the right direction.

1. Zip the door up so that the tent is closed.

2. Think ot your tent as a huge clock. Each number on a clock represents a pegging point. With that in mind, this is what you should do.
   XL models and high wall tents include 2 x sets of ribbed pegs, enough for all the guy ropes and bungee cords attached to the eaves ot the tent. It is important to use the ribbed pegs in the correct positions to secure high-wall tents. Use the smooth pin pegs in the groundsheet of the tent only. Standard modes include two sets of pin pegs and 1 set of ribbed pegs. Use the ribbed set on the guy ropes. Setting your pegs in place, peg the groundsheet. Start with one peg positioned at Twelve o’clock, then go across to the opposite side at Six o’clock and place another peg. Be sure to pull tight. Now move to position Nine o’clock and again go across to the opposite side at Three o’clock. Now you can place pegs in all the o’clock in between.

3.  Take the main central pole through the door and ensure that the rubber stoppers insert into the top and bottom parts of the central pole. Find the middle point of the cone and insert the pole so that the tent stands vertically. Make the central pole stand vertical in the center ot the groundsheet.

4.  Place the A-Frame pole inside the door, attach it with the canvas and eyelet hole, and install one rainproof cap outside the tent. Then ensure that the foot of the A-frame is in the teet position on the groundsheet. Be careful not to rip the canvas with the A-trame spike.

5.  Zip the door, attach the top door strap with the long guy line and peg it down. Then, attach the rest of the guy lines around the tent following the previous o clock strategy that we used when inserting the pin pegs. Do not put too much tension on the guy ropes at this point. Be sure to follow the seam lines’ direction when placing the guy lines to give a neat and even finish. The aim is to set up your tent to look smooth overall like a nicely ironed shirt. Creases will appear in the canvas it the guy lines do not align with the natural stitch lines in the seams.

6.  Once all the tent guy lines are in place, adjust the guy lines one by one to get the required tension. Remembering our o’clock strategy, go around tightening the guy lines.

7.  The aim is to keep your center pole as straight as possible. Too much tension on one side will make your Bell Tent look lopsided.

8. For tents that have a zipped in groundsheet.
   You can roll up the sides of your bell tent on a hot day.
   Do this by unzipping the groundsheet zippers all the way around. You will see cotton wicks positioned on the inner side of your bell tent. Roll the sides of your tent up and secure using the wicks.

STORING YOUR TENT

• Post Glamping, dismantle your tent carefully and store it carefully to prevent damage.
• Ensure that your tent is dry to avoid mold and fungus on the fabric.
• Apply a waterproofing agent after 1 season of constant usage to increase and maintain the durability of the canvas and its waterproof features. Avoid storing the tent in a damp location.
• We suggest spraying the canvas after considerable use to time, which can preserve the water-resistance of your tent and prolong its life.
