BXH20261 Adjustable Ball Mount Installation Instructions

The Adjustable Ball Mount consists of two separate parts referred to as the Dual Flange Platform (DFP) and the Dual Flange Ball (DFB). The DFP (dual flange platform) is rated weight carrying up to 20,000 lbs. GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) and up to 2,000 lbs. tongue weight.

The DFB (dual flange ball) is rated up to 20,000 lbs. GVWR/2,000 lbs. tongue weight when using the 2-5/16” ball and 10,000 lbs. GVWR/1,000 lbs. tongue weight when using the 2” ball.

Installation Instructions

  1. Install DFP (dual flange platform) into the 2-1/2” receiver hitch of your vehicle and secure it with the included bent hitch pin and clip. Always secure the hitch pin with a cotter pin unless a locking device is being used. See Illustration A.
  2. Determine which hitch ball size to be used is 2” or 2-5/16”. Once the approximate height for the ball installation has been determined, mate the dual ball to the platform by inserting the supplied clevis pins through the holes that line up with the holes in the platform. Secure the pins with the included cotter pins. A patented pre-installed rubber bumper is installed in the dual ball to help prevent excessive rattles. During installation, some force may be required to push the dual ball in to position to allow the clevis pins to mate correctly.

Note: The supplied pins are specifically engineered for the Adjustable Ball Mount. If replacement pins are needed, they must be replaced with original factory pins.

WARNING: Use of any pin other than of original manufacture could be a serious safety hazard and will void the warranty.

Notes

  • Prior to towing, check to make sure that the pins are secured into place with cotter pins.
  • Never hook up trailer safety chains to the Adjustable Ball Mount.
  • The function of the pre-installed rubber bumper is to reduce rattles only.

WARNING: Please ensure that the safety chains operate freely around the Adjustable Ball Mount and don’t become entangled in the Platform or Dual Flange Ball.
