Introduction
Thank you for choosing to purchase this quality product. To minimise the risk
of injury, we ask you to always take some basic safety precautions when using
this product. Please read this operating manual carefully and make sure that
you understand it.
Keep these operation instructions in a safe place.
Use
Gas burners are suited for destroying pest plants. They are especially used for unwanted weeds to be removed from interstices of flagstones on drives, pavements, and terraces. This is a fast and effective alternative to manual weeding and a good choice to avoid using chemical herbicides; thus, environment is also treated with care. Many chemical products like well-known household remedies salt and vinegar are banned by law because of their polluting effects.
Safety instructions
-
Before use, read the manual. Make sure to have understood all notes and instructions and to be able to obey all safety warnings of this manual.
-
Do not use the device near open flames or sparks. While using the gas burner, do not smoke or use other devices. Other devices might generate flames or sparks that might cause a fire or an explosion.
-
The device may only be used outdoors. It is not suitable for indoor use.
-
Neither store nor use petrol or other flammable liquids or vapours near devices operated by propane gas.
-
Remove all debris (e.g., leaves or twigs) from surfaces before using the gas burner. They might catch fire and are therefore dangerous.
-
Wear appropriate protection equipment when using the burner (e.g., flame-retarding gloves, protective goggles, etc.).
-
Watch your feet while using the gas burner. Wear sturdy and closed shoes.
-
Make sure that no children or animals are in the work area.
-
Avoid using the gas burner in immediate vicinity of flammable objects and plants (keep a min. safety distance of 50 cm). Hedges, fences, shed, and other elements could catch fire and be damaged. Fire hazard!
-
It is recommended to keep a suitable extinguishing agent at hand before beginning to work (e.g., a fire extinguisher, water bucket, or garden hose).
-
Make sure that the hose and valves are securely screwed together.
-
After use, make sure that the gas knob is completely closed.
-
Never modify the flaming device or compressed gas cylinder.
-
Attention! Certain parts of the flaming device can become very hot. Keep it away from children and avoid touching the parts heated. Burning hazard!
-
Never put down the flaming device during use and never leave it unattended. Make sure that the device is completely cooled down before putting it on or near flammable material.
-
Be careful not to twist the hose and avoid any overheating. Should the hose be damaged, it must immediately be replaced.
-
Only use the device at an angle below 90°.
-
Do not use the device during rain, wind, or other influences that complicate its use. Should the gas flame be extinguished by wind, immediately close the gas knob.
-
Should you not manage to ignite the flame several times, close the valve and wait for the gas escaped to have dissipated before you re-try to ignite the flame.
-
Should gas leak from the cylinder, this must immediately be brought to a well-ventilated place free from sources of ignition. Make sure that all valves are closed.
Note! One can recognise escaping gas by the typical gas smell. The odorous substance added to the propane gas is similar to the smell of rotten eggs.
Warning! Risk to your health due to gas contact! Escaping gas that is not ignited might cause limited injuries when being inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Consult a doctor if symptoms develop or if you have doubts. -
Only qualified persons should perform repair works. Otherwise, there is a risk of gas leaks and other risks.
-
Store the flaming device and the gas cylinder in a safe place and out of children’s reach. Make sure that no gas escapes from cylinders. Do not store any flammable material, e.g., cardboard, paper, or chipped wood, in the immediate vicinity of the flaming device. Make sure that the room is well ventilated and protected from sunlight.
Attention! This burner may only be used with HD 5 propane gas. The propane gas tank should not contain more than 20 pounds LP gas. Do not use bulk containers with bigger capacities. Do not use any other fuel.
Important! To safely connect the burner to a current gas cylinder, you must always use a pressure reducer that is not included in delivery.
