Personal Safety
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when using the portable power adapter. Do not use while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention may result in serious personal injury.
Do not expose portable power adapter to rain or wet conditions. Portable power adapter is not waterproof. Water will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not use portable power adapter with uninterrupted power sources (e.g. 12VDC automotive outlets, automotive charger. Use of uninterrupted power sources may create a risk of portable power adapter malfunctions, injury and fire.
Do not plug power source to USB port or heating element power port on the portable power adapter. The portable power adapter is not designed as a charger to charge the battery pack. Charging the battery pack through the portable power adapter create a risk of injury and fire. -
Product Use and Care
Disconnect the battery pack from the portable power adapter when not in use. Such preventative safety measures reduce the risk of injury. Store out of reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with these instructions to use portable power adapter.
Portable power adapter misuse can result in personal injury and property damage hazards.
Periodically check portable power adapter for wear and damage to parts. If damage or excessive wear is discovered, have the portable power adapter repaired before use. -
Battery tool use and care
Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact.
If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help.
Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns. If battery release tabs are cracked or otherwise damaged, do not insert into tool. Battery can fall out during operation. -
Service
Have your portable power adapter serviced by a qualified Bosch repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the portable power adapter is maintained.
Safety Rules for Portable Power Adapter
Use only BAT612 or the batteries listed in the battery/charger list. Use of
any other battery packs may create a risk of workwear malfunctions, injury and
fire.
Disconnect battery when not in use or when battery is moist or wet. Moisture
could damage the battery pack and create a risk of fire.
Disconnect and remove battery pack and portable power adapter from Bosch
heated workwear pocket before washing. Wetting of the battery pack and
portable power adapter can result in product damage, injury or fire.

Functional Description and Specifications
The Portable Power Adapter 1 is intended for using a Bosch 18V or AMPShare 18V lithium-ion Battery 6 as the voltage source. With the Por- table Power Adapter 1 a maximum of two USB devices and one heating element for the Bosch heated workwear can be powered simultaneously. (See Fig.1.)
Battery Packs/Chargers
Please refer to the Battery/Charger List included with your tool.
NOTE: For tool specifications refer to the nameplate on your tool.
Assembly
Inserting and Releasing Battery Pack (Fig. 2)
Use only BAT612 or the batteries listed in the battery/charger list. Use of
any other battery packs may create a risk of heated workwear malfunctions,
injury and fire.
To insert battery, align battery and slide Battery Pack 6 into Portable Power
Adapter 1 until it locks into position (an audible click sound is an
indication that the battery is locked). Do not force.
To remove the Battery Pack 6, press the Battery Pack Release Button 7 and
slide the Battery
Pack 6 completely off of the Portable Power Adapter 1.
Operating Instructions
Charging External USB Devices
(Fig. 1, Fig. 3)
Do not connect any device that is not compatible with 5VDC, 4.8A power source
to the USB Ports on the Portable Power Adapter. Charging of noncompatible
devices may create a risk of portable power adapter malfunction.
You can use the USB Ports 4 on the Portable Power Adapter 1 to increase the
battery runtime of various battery-operated USB devices, e.g. mobile phone,
MP3 player or tablet PC.
Ensure that your external USB device can be charged using the USB Ports 4 on
the Portable Power Adapter 1.
- Plug the charging cable of your USB device into the USB Port 4 on the Portable Power Adapter 1.
- Press the On Button 2 for activation of the Portable Power Adapter 1. The On Button 2 lights up.
If no charger cable is connected, the USB ports are automatically disabled after 30 seconds.
The On Button 2 light goes out.
The USB Ports 4 are disabled automatically to save power when no power is being used from the USB Ports 4.
Connecting the Heating Element Power Cable (Fig. 1, Fig. 4)
Connect only Bosch Heated Workwear Heating Element Power Cable to the Heating
Element Power Port of the Portable Power Adapter. Connecting any other device
may create a risk of fire or personal injury.
- Plug the Heating Element Power Cable 8 into the Heating Element Power Port 3 of the Portable Power Adapter 1.
- Press the On Button 2 for activation of the Portable Power Adapter 1. The On Button 2 lights.
- Press the power button and heat level controller of the heated workwear once for each heat level.
- Slide the Portable Power Adapter 1 into the pocket provided in the garment or hang the Portable Power Adapter 1 on your belt using the Belt Clip 5.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Corrective Measure |

External USB device cannot be
charged using the USB port.| Check that the Battery Pack 6 is charged.
Connect the charging cable of the external USB device to the USB Port 4 on the
portable power adapter. Activate the Portable Power Adapter 1 by pressing On
Button 2.
Check that your device does not require any more than the following…
•when one USB Port 4 is used: 5V DC, 4.8 Amp maximum output
•when two USB Ports 4 are used: 5V DC, 2.4 Amp maximum output
Unfortunately, not all devices can be tested for compatibility and your device
may not be compatible.
Heated workwear heating element does not heat up.| Check that the Battery Pack
6 is charged.
Connect the cable of the heated workwear to the Heating Element Power Port 3
of the Portable Power Adapter 1. Activate the Portable Power Adapter 1 by
pressing On Button 2. (See “Connecting the Heating Element Power Cable” on
page 7.)
Maintenance
To reduce the risk of injury, always unplug the portable power adapter and
remove the battery pack before performing any maintenance. Never disassemble
the battery pack or portable power adapter. Contact a Bosch service facility
for all repairs.
Keep the portable power adapter, battery and charger clean at all times.
Do not immerse the portable power adapter, battery and charger into water or
other fluids. Wipe off debris using a moist and soft cloth.
Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents. The battery is not serviceable and
should be repaired by an authorized service center.
LIMITED WARRANTY OF BOSCH PORTABLE AND BENCHTOP POWER TOOLS
Robert Bosch Tool Corporation (“Seller”) warrants to the original purchaser
only, that all BOSCH portable and benchtop power tools will be free from
defects in material or workmanship for a period of one year from date of
purchase . Seller’s sole obligation and your exclusive remedy under this
Limited Warranty and, to the extent permitted by law, any warranty or
condition implied by law, shall be the repair or replacement of parts,
without charge, which are defective in material or workmanship and which have
not been misused, carelessly handled, or misrepaired by persons other than
Seller or Authorized Service Station . To make a claim under this Limited
Warranty, you must return the complete portable or benchtop power tool
product, transportation prepaid, to any BOSCH Factory Service Center or
Authorized Service Station . For Authorized BOSCH Power Tool Service Stations,
please refer to your phone directory .
This Limited Warranty does not apply to accessorY ITEMS SUCH AS CIRCULAR SAW
BLADES, DRILL BITS, ROUTER BITS, JIGSAW BLADES, SANDING BELTS, GRINDING WHEELS
AND OTHER RELATED ITEMS .
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES SHALL BE LIMITED IN DURATION TO ONE YEAR FROM DATE OF
PURCHASE . SOME STATES IN THE U .S ., SOME CANADIAN PRO V NCES DO NOT ALLOW
LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY
