Y-SERIES EXPOSURE UNIT

The Y-Series Exposure Unit is a device that emits an intense UV light to expose screens for screen printing. It is important to note that the unit must be used in an area where others will not be exposed to the open UV source. Looking directly into the UV lightduring operation can be harmful to the eyes even for brief periods of time. If viewing the UV light is necessary, use UV filtered eye protection to avoid damage to your eyes. The bottom of the unit should not be removed unless instructed by the manufacturer, as doing so will put you at risk of electric shock.

Troubleshooting Guide

If you encounter a problem with the unit not powering on, follow these steps:

  1. Check the power outlet and confirm it’s working properly.
  2. Make sure the main power switch on the back is activated. Then make sure the power cord is securely connected.
  3. Check the main fuse in the back, between the power cord and power switch. Replace the fuse if necessary.

Tips & Recommendations

Exposure times may vary depending on variables such as emulsion, stencil EOM (emulsion over mesh or thickness), mesh count, screen mesh color, film opacity, environment, and art. Use the following exposure advice as guidelines to establish a starting point for your own testing:

Screen exposure changes with variables of emulsion, stencil EOM (emulsion over mesh or thickness), mesh count, screen mesh color, film opacity, environment and art. These recommendations are guidelines, use them to establish a starting point for your own testing. Halftone retention: While the advanced exposure calculator does provide a halftone scale to help you accurately calculate the percent of halftone dot retention in your design, we recommend the following:

  • From the output options menu in your artwork program (Photoshop, Corel, or ai), select the option to print a density scale on your artwork.
  • Utilize the Eye loupe included in your kit to view these with the most accuracy. Halftone best practices for the FX:
  • Mesh Count/4.5 = LPI maximum.
  • LPI * 4.5 = mesh minimum.
