Instruction Manual
General
Please note that all instructions are to be left with the Consumer after
installation.
The IP66 range is manufactured from tough, durable thermoplastic, and is
intended for use in an outdoor environment, or one in which the protection
provided by the IP66 range is required.
All of the products are rated IP66, for protection against water and dust. All
IP66 products need to be fitted with waterproof cable or conduit entries to
maintain their IP rating once installed.
The IP66 range complies with the following standards Socket outlets: BS1363-2
/ SS145 (13A); BS546/ SS472 (15A); Fuse connection units: BS1363-4; Switches:
BSEN60669-1 / IEC60669-1.
All products in the range comply with the low voltage directive LV 72/23/EEC
and where relevant EMC directive 89/336/EEC
Advice should be sought before installing this product in an environment where
it is likely to be subjected to chemicals, oils, solvents, or wood preservers
Installation Instructions
These products should be installed by a competent person (eg. a qualified
electrician) in accordance with these instructions and in compliance with the
appropriate clauses of the current edition of the IET or IEC wiring and
building regulations. Sockets should be protected by a suitable RCD device.
The IP66 range is designed to be mounted on a vertical flat surface, with
socket outlets not more than 1.5 meters above the ground.
The rear box shall be mounted on the wall using four number 8 wood screws.
If conduit is to be used then please follow the instructions below:
The draining feature can be drilled out using a 5mm drill if the top or side
entry conduit is used. Opening this drain hole will reduce the IP rating of
the product.
If the bottom entry conduit is used, there must be adequate drainage from the
lowest point of the conduit.
The relevant cable entry knockout should be carefully removed.
The rear box is equipped with 20mm removable blanks, if a 25mm entry is
required the blank should be left in place and drilled out using a suitable
25mm hole saw. The center position of the blank has been pre-marked for this
purpose.
A waterproof cable or conduit entry must then be fitted in its place.
If two cable entry positions are used with metal conduits, then earth
continuity between the conduits must be maintained.
Ensure that the gasket is correctly fitted, and tighten the four screws to fix
the front cover in place. Do not over-tighten. The use of an electric
screwdriver is not recommended.
Operating Instructions for the end user
The lid may be opened by depressing the tab on the lower front cover (see fig
1.)
Plugs may then be inserted into the socket and the socket switch turned on.
The lid should then be closed to maintain the IP rating. Care must be taken to
ensure that the cables are aligned with the center of the cable seals (see fig
2.)
The lid should always be in the closed position to maintain the IP rating even
when it is not in use.
The lid can be locked using a suitable padlock (not supplied) to prevent
unauthorized use.
The lid hinge/pivot should be kept free of dirt or debris. The product should
not be subjected to chemicals, oils, solvents, or wood preservers

The outside can be cleaned with the lid firmly closed using a mild detergent.
