KLEVG Speldosa Wintergatan Music Box
Welcome!
This is the user manual for Speldosa, Wintergatan Music Box. Speldosa is the result of a unique collaboration between Klevgrand and the Swedish artist Wintergatan/Martin Molin. Wintergatan has primarily worked in the physical world (the Marble Machine is probably the most astonishing example), while Klevgrand has performed their craft within the digital sphere. Speldosa (Swedish for “Music Box”) is the essence of the shared beliefs of Klevgrand and Wintergatan, and their fascination with minimalism.
The instrument itself has been meticulously recorded by Wintergatan and transformed into a playable digital instrument plugin. It features four different models (Modern, Vintage, Antique, and Eternal = Reversed), two different Room models, and an algorithmic reverb. It is available for Mac & Windows (AU/VST/AAX), iPad and iPhone (Standalone and AUv3). It has been designed and developed by Klevgrand, a small studio in Stockholm, Sweden, together with Martin Molin.
LICENSING ( DESKTOP ONLY)
Until unlocked, the plug-in will output 1 second of silence now and then. To
unlock the full version, click the Demo label (bottom left corner) and type or
right-click to paste your license key.
User Interface
A. SETTINGS
A selection of parameters to set the character, room, reverb, vibrato and
output of the sound, as well as plug-in window size.
Character
A selection of four characters of the music box base sound. Modern with a
clean and bright feel, Vintage and Antique with two muted options and Eternal
with the sound reversed.
Room
Two convolution reverbs. The smaller box – a smaller room character, and the
larger box a larger room character.
Level
Sets the amount of Room signal in dB.
Space
An algorithmic reverb with long decay. The lever sets the amount of Space
signal in db.
Volume
Sets the output level in db.
Vibrato
Midi-CC 1 (mod wheel) sets the vibrato amount.
Window resize
Sets the plug-in window size between 75% to 200% (desktop only).
Minify closes the bottom section of the plug-in that visualises the notes as
falling stars.
B. VISUAL REPRESENTATION
Visual representation of the notes played.
Tongues
A representation of the range of Speldosa with 77 notes from G0 to C6. Notes
are triggered via midi or by clicking the tongues.
Stars
Representation of the notes played. Changes in the mod wheel triggers a slight
flickering of the stars.
Special keys
Hold Alt/Option to finetune a value (e.g. a knob or slider).
Double-click a control to reset it to its default value
