Product Information

The End Termination Kit for Overjacketed is designed for use with Thermon Self-Regulating Heating Cables. The kit style is ET-4S and it can be installed in ordinary locations. The kit components include an end cap, heat shrink tube, heating cable, and encapsulant.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Remove 1/2 (13 mm) of the over jacket from the cable end and trim away the exposed braid with scissors. Cover the braid by wrapping it with tape.
  2. Slip the ET-4S heat shrink tube over the cable end.
  3. Shrink the ET-4S end cap with a heat gun, uniformly applying heat to the end cap.
  4. Heat until the end cap has completely shrunk down to the cable size, and the encapsulant has flowed out of the end.
  5. For roof and gutter applications, do not install the end termination where it can be exposed to standing water. Use Thermon cable roof fastener RG-CRF or equivalent to permanently mount the end termination above water level.

Note: The semi-conductive heating matrix should not be exposed.

Warning

To minimize the risk of electrical shock, arcing, and fire caused by product damage or improper usage, installation or maintenance, install with a ground- fault protection device.
Ground-fault protection is required.

Read and comply with installation instructions in their entirety.

NOTE:

For roof and gutter applications do not install end termination where it can be exposed to standing water. Use Thermon cable roof fastener RG-CRF or equivalent to permanently mount end termination above water level.
